OPEN SPACE, RECREATION AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES September 10, 2014 NEXT MEETING: October 8, 2014, 7:30 PM in the Committee Room at Hartley Dodge Memorial. PRESENT: A. Baillie, C. Coultas, L. Ellis, P. Hiscano, , C. Kellogg, J. Mullins, T. Piscula, M. Monohan MINUTES: Motion made and passed to accept both the minutes and executive minutes as corrected. Mullins/Kellogg MADISON ATHLETIC FOUNDATION: A. Commitment $153,00, only $100,000 actually donated. B. Extra $53,000 taken from Open Space funds. No time for the application process as the note was due in August. C. Cost of scoreboard hopefully will be covered by fundraising 1. $7,500 cost 2. Ask Corporate sponsors FUNDED PROJECT REPORT: A. Cole Park – funds in place but no schedule for the project completion B. Luke Miller Forge Roof– funds in place and should be completed this fall. C. MRC Fencing – posts in place and black plastic fencing has been delivered. NOTE: Fencing has been started – unsure of completion date but should be soon. MUSEUM OF EARLY TRADES AND CRAFTS: A. $125,000 from Open Space this year B. 80% funding – from the County C. Contact for the work signed Sept 10, 2014 D. The County is strict on accountability of fund spent. Our Committee should be more careful with accurate accounting of our Open Space funds spent. PARK AVENUE PROJECT: A. ProspectiveKorman Suites project for Rockefeller property has caused Madison Borough to hire a traffic consultant B. Hopefully Korman will work with Madison to develop a connection to BayleyEllard and on to Park Ave. A sidewalk is needed and a conversation needs to take place with David Helmer of the Morris County Park Commission on development of County property into a pathway.
