MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL BUDGET WORK SESSION MINUTES OF APRIL 26, 2011 The Manistee City Council met in a budget work session on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 7: 00 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT Richard Mack, Catherine Zaring, Bob Hornkohl, Alan Marshall, Colleen Kenny MEMBERS ABSENT: Ed Cote, Ilona Haydon OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Public and Media Discussion on 2011- 2012 Budget Document. Staff made opening comments and answered previous questions posed by City Council at the April 19, 2011 work session. Appropriation budgets were supplied for review by Council. Prior to the appropriation organization budget discussion, Administration and Council discussed the Armory parking lot potential paving. Council unanimously felt that we should repave the parking lot during the CSO Project. Council directed staff to seek funds from the National Guard to help, but to move forward with paving now while seeking funds. Appropriation organization budgets were discussed by Council. Mayor Pro- Tem Kenny asked questions about AES annual budget. Questions were answered by AES Executive Director Cyndy Fuller and City Manager. Mayor Pro- Tem Kenny identified several appropriaton organization budgets where expenditures exceeded revenue. Staff inentioned in future budgets each organization requesting City appropriation funds will be requested to attend annual budget work session to answer Council questions. Councilmember Marshall asked when Council would see the DDA budget. Staff informed Council that it will be at the May 4, 2011 meeting, but will also be sent out electronically.
