MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION MINUTES OF MARCH 14, 2023 The Manistee City Council met in a study session on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Lynda Beaton, Cindy Lundberg, Jermaine Sullivan, Seth Pratt, James Grabowski, and Erin Martin Pontiac MEMBERS ABSENT: David Bachman ALSO PRESENT: City Manager, Department Directors, Media, and Public PUBLIC COMMENTS ON STUDY SESSION RELATED ITEMS. No public comments received. DISCUSSION ON A SEWER BACKUP POLICY – City Manager William Gambill and DPW Director Jeff Mikula presented a draft sewer backup policy and reviewed the purpose and procedure detailed in the proposed policy for handling sewer backups reported by City utility customers. Discussion included: • Backup letter sent to utility customer needs to be initialed by customer and kept on file • Follow up on completion of work • Communication between department director and employees • Payment for work completed by the City • Policy should be made available on the City’s website/social media OTHER No further discussion.
