MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL STUDY SESSION – TEAM BUILDING MINUTES OF JULY 17, 2025 The Manistee City Council met in a study session on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hampton Inn 5th floor meeting room, 101 S. Lakeshore Drive, Manistee, Michigan 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Julia Raddatz, Wesley Smith, Liz Laskey, Jermaine Sullivan, Kay Keck, James Grabowski, and Lani Rozga MEMBERS ABSENT: None ALSO PRESENT: City Manager and City Clerk PUBLIC COMMENTS None. COMMUNICATING THROUGH CONFLICT - Team Building Session Bethany Prykucki and Mary Reilly from the MSU Extension presented a training session on Communicating Through Conflict. They began the program with their professional background and history with the MSU Extension. Everyone was then asked to think about any recent conflict experiences and discuss the ways they currently manage conflict. Bethany and Mary presented the P-A-W-S model and reviewed what each letter represented and how the model can be used in handing conflict. • Pause – Stop or slow the conversation • Ask – What truly happened? How did that affect me? • Listen – Listen openly and deeply • Speak – What How Now Various activities and exercises were offered which focused on conflict and resolution including talking, listening, and observing.
