HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Council Chambers, City Hall 70 Maple Street Manistee, MI 49660 MEETING MINUTES February 4, 2010 A Meeting of the Manistee City Historic District Commission was held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan. Meeting was called to order at 3:04 p.m. by Chair Kracht. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Maria DeRee, T. Eftaxiadis, Teena Kracht, Mary Murton, Nathaniel Neider, John Perschbacher Members Absent: Dave Carlson Others: Travis Alden (DDA Main Street Director), Jon Rose (Community Development), Steve Harold (Manistee County Historical Museum) and Denise Blakeslee (Planning & Zoning) APPROVAL OF AGENDA: MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Maria DeRee that the Agenda for the February 4, 2010 Meeting be approved. With a Voice Vote this motion passed UNANIMOUSLY. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Mary Murton that the Minutes of the January 7, 2010 Meeting be approved. With a Voice Vote this motion passed UNANIMOUSLY. City of Manistee Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes of February 4, 2010 Page 2 NEW BUSINESS: Extra Copies of the Demolition Policy were needed. Denise Blakeslee left the meeting. Travis Alden, Main Street/DDA Director -Update There were no new items to report. Resolution - Manistee North Pierhead Light During Ms. Blakeslee’s absence Jon Rose spoke to the Commission about the Historic District Commission offering their support to the acquisition of the Manistee North Pierhead Light by resolution. A draft resolution was presented to the members to review. Ms. Blakeslee returned to the meeting. MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Mary Murton that the Historic District Commission adopt a resolution of Support for the Manistee North Pierhead Light (attached). Commissioner Neider entered the meeting. With a roll call vote this motion passed 5 to 0 with Commissioner Neider Abstaining because he was not present for the discussion. Yes: DeRee, Murton, Eftaxiadis, Perschbacher, Kracht No: None OLD BUSINESS Demolition Policy The Historic District Commission began reviewing a Demolition Policy at their worksession on January 20, 2009. A revised draft was prepared and forwarded to the members to review prior to today’s meeting. The Commissioners discussed changes that will be incorporated in a new draft. Commissioner Murton left during the discussion. The Next meeting of the Historic District Commission will be on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street. Commissioner Neider left the meeting ADJOURNMENT: MOTION by T. Eftaxiadis, seconded by Maria DeRee that the meeting be adjourned. Motion passed unanimously. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 4:47 P.M.
