HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Council Chambers, City Hall 70 Maple Street Manistee, MI 49660 MEETING MINUTES October 7, 2010 A Meeting of the Manistee City Historic District Commission was held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan. Meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. by Chair Kracht. ROLL CALL: Members Present: Dave Carlson, Maria DeRee, T. Eftaxiadis, Teena Kracht, Nathaniel Neider, John Perschbacher Members Absent: Vacancy Others: Travis Alden (Main Street/DDA Director) Jon Rose (Community Development), Steve Harold (Manistee County Historical Museum), Mark Fedder (Manistee County Historical Museum) and Denise Blakeslee (Planning & Zoning) APPROVAL OF AGENDA: MOTION by Maria DeRee, seconded by T. Eftaxiadis that the Agenda for the October 7, 2010 Meeting be approved. With a voice vote this motion passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION by Maria DeRee, seconded by John Perschbacher that the Minutes of the September 2, 2010 Meeting be approved With a voice vote this motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Meeting Dates 2011 Staff has prepared a list of proposed meeting dates for 2011 for the Commission to review. City of Manistee Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes of October 7, 2010 Page 2 MOTION by John Perschbacher, seconded by Maria DeRee to schedule the Historic District Commission Meetings schedule their meetings for 3:00 p.m. the first Thursday of the Month in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan for 2011 as follows: January 6, 2011 February 3, 2011 March 3, 2011 April 7, 2011 May 5, 2011 June 2, 2011 July 7, 2011 August 4, 2011 September 1, 2011 October 6, 2011 November 3, 2011 December 1, 2011 With a voice vote this motion passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS None PUBLIC COMMENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS CONCERNING ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA None CORRESPONDENCE None REPORTS Travis Alden, Main Street/DDA Director - reported the following activities to the commission: < Have developed a new forgivable loan program. < Vogue update - awaiting answer from the Bankruptcy Trustee < New Event Boos, Brews & Brats October 23, 2010 Steve Harold - Approved routine repair & maintenance for the building at 425 429 River Street for window repair and touch up paint. Also approved routine repair and maintenance work on the Smith Building, 358 River Street for work this fall and work on the Gibbs Building 360 River Street in the spring. Jon Rose - Spoke to the Commission about a new draft policy that has been developed and application form for routine repair and maintenance. The Commission reviewed the draft and discussed some changes that will be brought back to them at the November Meeting. The Chair directed staff to use the draft application form until the final application form is approved. The Commission approved issuance of a Certificate of Compliance to the following projects: PH DC 090 18 - E lbert Purdom , 369 River Street: Facade Improvements PHD C09025 - ISO Grand Rapids, 401 River Street: Installation of a service door into existing west wall towards parking lot PHDC 10019 - Jeffrey Gordon, 411 River Street: Chimney Extension PHDC 08020 - Port City Investments 419, 421, 423 R iver Street: Facade Improvements PH DC 090 20 - P ort C ity Investm ents, 419, 421, 423 R iver Street: Installation of a Tile Entry PH DC 090 19 - D ouglas & Kellie Parkes, 445 River Street: Reconstruction of storefront PH DC 090 05 - R am sdell Theatre, 101 M aple Street: Facade Restoration PH DC 090 10 - R am sdell Theatre, 101 M aple Street: Installation of three solar lights. PHDC09010 - John Ball, 135 Washington St: Facade improvements PHD C09004 - John Ball, 135 W ashington St: Repair of areas as needed on the back of the building using identical materials (east of the brick structure). The Next meeting of the Historic District Commission will be on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street.
