MANISTEE AREA PEG COMIVIISSION MEETING MINUTES September 15,2004 A regulaz scheduled meeting of the Manistee Area PEG Commission was held on Wednesday, September 15,2004 at 6:38 p.m.in the library conference room at Manistee High School, 525 Twelfth Street, Manistee, Michigan. MEMBERS PRESENT: J. Mencarelli, J. Ball, L.Trucks,N.Leslie MEMBERS ABSENT: K.Fenstermacher, I.Hayden, M.Tillotson OTHERS PRESENT: S. Scrimger, K.Brown There was a motion by Leslie, seconded by Ball to accept the agenda as printed. Motion passed 4- 0 There was a motion by Trucks,seconded by Ball to accept the minutes of the August 18,2004 meeting. Motion passed 4-0 Executive Director Brown presented his report of activities. Mr.Mencarelli reported to the committee on discussions with the city attorney. Individuals do not have the right to prevent taping br broadcast of their presence at a public event. Organizations however, do own the rights to events they host. Programmers should be sure they have permission to tape events being hosted by any organization (Forest Festival, concerts, school events, etc.). After some discussion, the commission directed the administrative liaison to frame a request to Charter communications that they provide both local access channels on the limited basic tier and provide connection equipment for the second channel a. nd that they provide the city with a character generator as provided for in the franchise agreement. This request is to be forwarded to the City Manager for his action. There was a motion by Leslie, seconded by Trucks to approve payment of to the Executive Director for services from 8- 04 9- through 9- 04.5- Motion passed 4- 0 Several members thanked Mr.Brown for his service over the last year. It was agreed to hold the next meeting in the administrative conference room at Manistee High School on Twelfth Street. The date for the next meeting was set for October 20, 2004. There was a motion by Ball, seconded by Leslie to adjoum. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:30 p. m..
