TREE COMMISSION MEETING c MINUTES ( OCTOBER 17,2005 gV ~7 92Z Rj015~- MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Sagala, Mary Ann 7ohnson, Bob Johnson, Tom Kubanek MEMBERS EXCUSED: Pat Williams OTHERS PRESENT: Jack Garber, StaffLiaison, Kathie Boyle Pat Sagala called meeting to order at 6: 00 p. m. Motion by Bob Johnson, seconded by Tom Kubanek thax the June 2005 minutes be accepted and placed on file. OLD BUSINESS Cha1k Art Contest went very well. We had lots of goodies in the gift bags for the kids, even though Smokey the Bear did not make the activity. The turnout was a little smaller, possibly due to cutting the age limit down and holding it on Thursday. Bob and Mary Ann Johnson checked over the trees on the trim or take down list and turned back to Jack. Tree trimmings axe done in late November or early December. GOOD OF 1'IHE ORDER None NEW BUSINESS Jack informed the committee that Bob Davis has resigned from the commission, and ha.s offered to be available on an advisory ca.pacity if needed. City Council recently appointed Pam Schindbeck to the Tree Commission. Will notify her of next meeting. This still leaves one vacancy on the board. Jack reminded members that the "Tree Planting Program"will be in the spring of 2006. Members discussed recent outbreaks of an ash bore in the State. Pat Sagala asked about the Maple trees last year that had spots on the leaves. Was sent to MSU and they said there was nothing to worry about.  trees and spots found on them, as Bob 7ohnson brought up an article he read regarding Oak to next meeting. nearby as Wellston.
