CITY OF MANISTEE PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, December 16, 2021 Members Present: Liz Laskey, Kelly Greve, Tim O’Connor, Lani Rozga, Bob Brooks, Karin Maue Members Excused N/A Present: Jeff Mikula, Mickey McCann - City of Manistee Mayor Beaton Tom Oele A regular meeting of the Manistee Parks Commission was held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall 3rd floor Council chambers. Meeting was called to order by Chair Tim O’Connor at 5:30 p.m. Approval of Agenda Motion by Rozga, second by Brooks to approve agenda. All in favor. Public Hearing N/A Citizen/Public Comments Brandon Jensen canceled his request to speak to the commission. Tentatively rescheduled for January 20, 2022, meeting. Approval of Minutes Motion by Brooks, second by Greve to approve November 19, 2021, minutes. All in favor. Correspondence N/A Committee Reports Reservation System Pilot – O’Connor attended city council work session. O’Connor felt council was accepting. Questions on rate fees – Mikula walked members through draft proposal. Motion by Brooks, second by Maue to accept reservation system that have residents and non- residents fees generated returned to the Park System Capital Improvement Fund. Laskey and Greve against motion – want an online system fully from the beginning. Motioned Carried. Old Business Review Proposed Parks Reservation System – Will be handled through the City Clerks office with support from the DPW. Review/update Park Rules & Regulations – Changes on rules. Will schedule special meeting in two weeks. Maue and Laskey on committee. By-Laws Update – Members are to review Bylaws in preparation for reviewing and updating at next meeting. Morton Park – Want input from city residents. No donations from Morton Salt. O’Connor to contact News Advocate to place notice to invite citizens to January meeting. New Business 2022 Goals for the Parks Commission – Reviewed list provided by Laskey. Roundtable Discussion Mikula provided numerous updates. Brief comments from Maue, Brooks, O’Connor and Rozga. Tire swing at lighthouse park is broken. Letter of support requested from the Parks Commission on City of Manistee Beach Master Plan – O’Connor will forward letter to members. Motion by Brooks, second by Rozga to adjourn at 7:35 p.m. Next meeting date – January 20, 2021 @ 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 3rd Floor Council Chambers.
