City of Manistee Parks Commission Minutes Thursday, March 16, 2023 Members Present Kelly Greve, Karin Maue, Tim O’Connor, John Veach, Lani Rozga Members Excused Karen Peltola, Liz Laskey Others Present Jeff Mikula, Katie Trivisonno, Mickey McCann, Tom Ole A meeting of the Manistee Parks Commission was held on Thursday March 16, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 3rd Floor Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Co Chair Kelly Greve. Approval of Agenda Motion by Tim O’Connor, second by Lani Rozga to approve agenda. All in favor. Approval of Minutes Motion by Karin Maue, second by Tim O’Connor to approve February 16 minutes. All in favor. Citizen/Public None Correspondence Jen Teller letter to Morton Salt and Marquette Railroad Committee Reports Concessions-Committee met last week and recommended vendors for 1st Street Concession and 5th Ave Concession. Morton Park-Equipment, trash receptacles and benches have been selected and order will be presented to City Council for final approval. Bylaws-Karin Maue will present revised Bylaws to City Council next week. Disc Golf-Tom Ole is planning the Grand Opening, scheduled for May 20, 2023. DPW installed a bridge at the course. Final touches include signage, benches, and trash receptacles. Library-Lani Rozga is working with the library and scheduling reading in the parks, events will be added to the summer event calendar. Movies in the Park-Tim O’Connor is working with the Vogue theater on event details and licensing. Jeff Mikula mentioned the Ramsdell theater may have portable equipment available. Budget-N/A Grants-Jeff Mikula gave an update on Minger grant and playground equipment prices. The EDA Grant Riverwalk is moving forward, an engineering firm has been selected. New Business Marina-Kelly Greve has raised $5000 for Marina improvements. The public restrooms have been painted and Kelly would like to purchase new mirrors and lighting fixtures. Porta Jons-Contractor replaced portable restrooms with neutral color gray. Round Table Tim O’Connor recommended Lions Pavilion rental funds used as future capital improvements. Motion by Lani Rozga, second by Tim O’Connor. All in favor. O’Connor suggested replacing the plastic display case with a locked glass display and would like rental calendar posted. Jeff Mikula gave an update on the 1st street beach loop. The project will add a walkway, decorative lighting, and additional parking spaces.
