CITY OF MANISTEE PLANNING COMMISSION WORKSESSION AGENDA Thursday, October 15, 2015 7:00 p.m. Council Chambers, City Hall 70 Maple Street, Manistee, Michigan Worksessions are scheduled to allow the Planning Commission the opportunity to discuss in a less formal manner than a regular meeting. No motions can be made during a worksession. I Call to Order. II Worksession Items Public Input Session/Charrette III Adjourn  City of Manistee Master Plan Public Input Session 10/15/2015 AGENDA:  Introductions o PC Members o Staff o Public  Purpose of the Public Input Session o Master Plan Purpose/Ties to Zoning o Purpose of Additional Public Input Session  Past session  Low turnout (still viable data)  Goals & Final Plan Development over next couple of months  One last push for input  Public Input Session o Small table groups (break into small groups for discussion/brainstorming)  Select a recorder and spokesperson.  4 questions Posed  Strengths within the City of Manistee? o What is good within the City? o What draws people to the City? o What can be built upon to further progress the City?  Weaknesses concerning the City of Manistee? o What are notable deficiencies within the City?  Opportunities for the City of Manistee? o What is available to focus on within the City which will benefit residents and visitors? o Committees, Groups and Agencies which may assist with implementation of goals/objectives? o Methods to combat identified weaknesses?  Threats to increasing Strengths and Opportunities? o What are potential threats/pitfalls to successful implementation of goals shaped around Strengths and Opportunities? o Full Group Discussion  Staff recorder will log information from each small group  Group recorder report findings from each small group to staff recorder  Staff recorder places findings on a tally sheet and categorizes responses  Responses fall into categories (Economic Development/Job Creation, Transportation, Education/Schools, Housing, Parks and Recreation, Aesthetics, Land Use and Zoning….others can be developed dependent upon results) o Vote on categories in terms of importance to individual/community  Public Input Session Adjournment  Public Input Session Charrette Master Plan Update The City of Manistee invites all members of the community to this last input session before the release of the first draft of the Master Plan. Information gathered will be used for developing the long-range priorities, goals and strategies.
