TREE CUMMISSIUN MEETING MINUTES APRIL 6,2009 MEMBERS PRESENT: Pat Sagala, Mary Ann Johnson, Bob 7ohnson, Priscilla Rulison, Cookie Friedrich MEMBERS ABSENT: Pat Williams IERS PRESENT: OTI- Jack Garber, StaffLiaison, Kathie Boyle Pat Sagala called meeti.ng to order at 5: 00 p. m. Pat Sagala passed around a invitation that all board members ha.d received regarding an Appreciation Reception"on Apri120, 2009 at the Boathouse Grill - 440 River Street, from 4:00 - 6: m. All members present will attend. Kathie will call Michelle and let her know how many. 00 p. OLD BUSINES None GOOD OF THE ORDER None NEW BUSINESS Jack informed the committee tha.t we are again a" Tree City USA"and he will be going to Okemos this week to pick up the award. The City of Manistee has also been awarded a$ 3000 Tree 3000 from DTE with the 1 Grant from DTE Energy. We will apply the $ 000 in next yeaxs budget $ 0, and again have a tree planting program for our residents and city pazks. Cha1k Art Contest will again be held over the Forest Festival. All members are encouraged to participaxe - will discuss in more detail at ow next meeting. Trees on list for cutting and trimming of trees in the city right of way have been completed for the spring season. Stumps will be contracted out and removed in May. Brief discussion on the tree cutting / trimming Consumers Energy is doing around town. There is very little we can do - this is between the properry owners and Consumers. Remember we are still one member short, so if you know of anyone tha,t might be interested in being on the Tree Commission let them know - they can get an application from the City Clerk's Office. Next meeting will be Monday,May 4,2009 at 5: m. at City Hall first floor conference room. 00 p.
