Tree Commission Meeting Minutes April 11, 2022 Members Present: Gerald Haw, John Helge, Angela Rabb New Members: Dennis Otto, Vidar Lerum Members Excused: Sam Coram Others Present: Katie Trivisonno, Jeff Mikula City of Manistee Jen and Dale Teller, Michelle Pepera A Meeting of the Manistee Tree Commission was called to order by Chair Helge on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 5:03 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall. APPROVAL OF AGENDA All in Favor CITIZEN/PUBLIC COMMENT Jen Teller 712 Harbor Drive spoke of the “view shed policy”, enhance property value. Dale Teller 712 Harbor Drive stated this tree limb request has been going on for 9 years and doesn’t understand why it can’t be done. Michelle Pepera 221 Washington requested a tree removal form and will submit to commission tonight. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of Minutes from Special Meeting on January 10, 2021. All in favor UNFINISHED BUSINESS Tree purchase program. Explanation to new members about the program. Jeff will send out bids to contractors again this spring. Promotion of the Tree program discussed. The program is removing more trees than planting new. Commission would like to advertise the program, get the word out to the public. End goal is to remove/plant at 1:1 ratio. NEW BUSINESS Assign/review new trim/removal requests for approval. Discussion on developing a Vegetation Management Plan. Motion to proceed.
