Tree Commission Meeting Minutes July 11, 2022 Members Present: Gerald Haw, John Helge, Dennis Otto, Vidar Lerum Members Excused: Sam Coram Others Present: Katie Trivisonno, Jen Teller A meeting of the Manistee Tree Commission was called to order by Chair Helge on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 5:01 in Council Chambers at City Hall. Approval of Agenda: Approved Citizen/Public Comment: Jen Teller discussed “View Shed” Approval of Minutes: Approval of meeting minutes from May 17, 2022. Approved. Unfinished Business: Vegetation Management Plan discussion. Commission has read over the plan and agreed more time was needed to discuss details of plan. Helge feels the city needs a plan in place and would like to form a special committee to review the plan and report back to Commission on September 12. Helge assigned Gerald Haw to Chair the committee, also assigned Dennis Otto and Vidar Lerum to the committee. 30-day limit on tree trimming response. Members agreed to keep the 30-day response time but would like to receive requests immediately. Requests will be emailed as they are received by the DPW office. Helge will distribute to members. Also, the Commission would like to document follow-up with homeowner. Tree Purchase Program. Anthonys Landscaping has ordered trees and called in the Miss Dig locate requests. Total count as of today- 43 trees. Anthonys will contact customers before planting. New Business: Assignment of new tree trimming requests. Announcements: Dennis Otto suggested taking Jen Teller’s tree trimming request off table until a new plan is in place. The motion was defeated for lack of second motion.  Helge is working with Arborist to discuss the trees around City Hall. Meeting Adjourned at 5:50pm.
