Call to Order 2. Roll Call Present: 9- McMeans, Sitkiewitz, Nickels, Kummer, Czekala, Novak, Lotz, Williams and Brey Absent: 2- Howe and Gabriel Also present: City Attorney Kathleen McDaniel, Director of Public Infrastructure Dan Koski, Wastewater Treatment Facility Superintendent Mike Jaeger, MPU CEO & General Manager Nilaksh Kothari, Business Manager Karen Dorow, Deputy City Clerk Mackenzie Reed-Kadow 3. Public Comment None 4. Discussion and Action Items 18-0431 Discussion on Wastewater and MPU Operations Committee discussed options for merging MPU and Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Mayor Nickels explained he was looking for Council input as to whether this option is worth staff time spent exploring. Wastewater Treatment Facility Superintendent Mike Jaeger and MPU CEO & General Manager Nilaksh Kothari answered questions. Moved by Novak, seconded by Williams, to instruct City staff to work with MPU to review the opportunity for combined operations and report back to the Committee of the Whole with finding. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 9- McMeans, Sitkiewitz, Nickels, Kummer, Czekala, Novak, Lotz, Williams and Brey City of Manitowoc Page 1 Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes May 21, 2018 Council President McMeans read the notice to convene in closed session: Notice is hereby given that the above governmental body may adjourn into a closed session during the meeting as authorized by Section 19.85(1)(g) of the Wisconsin Statutes, which authorizes the governmental body to convene in closed session for the purpose of conferring with legal counsel for the governmental body who is rendering oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted by the body with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved. The specific subject matter that may be considered in closed session is: 18-0432 Update on site activities related to the Newton Gravel Pit and memo with recommendations on next steps. 5. Closed Session Moved by Sitkiewitz, seconded by Brey, to convene in closed session. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 9- McMeans, Sitkiewitz, Nickels, Kummer, Czekala, Novak, Lotz, Williams and Brey 18-0432 Update on site activities related to the Newton Gravel Pit and memo with recommendations on next steps.
