Call to Order 2. Roll Call Present: 5- Bare, Schilder, Wellner, Sauer and Hennessey 3. Public Comment No Public Comment 4. Approval of Minutes and Monthly Reports 17-0014 PFC December Minutes Attachments: PFC MEETING MINUTES 12-13-16 A motion was made by Mary Schilder, seconded by Matthew Sauer, that these Minutes was accepted and placed on file. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Bare, Schilder, Wellner, Sauer and Hennessey 17-0015 Fire/Rescue December Report Attachments: Fire/Rescue December Report Fire Chief Todd Blaser reported we closed out 2016 with a bit of an upswing. Our EMS call percentage was a little higher than 2015. The Annual Report is currently being worked on at this time and hopefully by March or April we will be able to provide more statistics. This Report was accepted and placed on file 17-0128 Fire/Rescue January Monthly Report. Attachments: Fire Rescue Division of Life Safety Report This Report was approved for consent agenda 17-0085 Fire/Rescue 2016 4th Quarter Key Performance Report. Attachments: 2016 MFD Key Performance 4th Qtr This Report was approved for consent agenda 17-0017 Police December Report Attachments: Police December Report Police Chief Nick Reimer reported our year end totals were pretty similar. He noted an increase in accidents, but stated weather is the contributing factor to that total. Chief noted the calls for service have remained consistent for the last four years. This Report was accepted and placed on file 17-0113 Police Department January Monthly Report. Attachments: Police January Report This Report was approved for consent agenda City of Manitowoc Page 2 Police and Fire Commission Meeting Minutes February 14, 2017 5. Discussion and Action Items 17-0146 Police Department eligibility list. Recommendation to approve and place on file. Police Chief Nick Reimer explained a little about each candidate. Chief went on to explain we interviewed six individuals who had previously taken the written exam. Chief is requesting to add three out the six individuals interviewed to the eligibility list. Currently the department doesn't have any openings at this time; however, with two officers leaving in the near future those positions will need to be filled. Moved by Bare, seconded by Sauer, that this Request be approved for six months. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5- Bare, Schilder, Wellner, Sauer and Hennessey 17-0137 Manitowoc Fire Departments emergency response to MPU Power Plant. Attachments: MPU Acknowledgment Chief Todd Blaser wanted to share the acknowledgement to show an example of what the Fire/Rescue staff is capable of handling. This Communication was placed on file 17-0019 Communication from committee members Michael Wellner and Mary Schilder on the seminar they attended in Wisconsin Dells. Mary Schilder and Michael Wellner each took the time to explain their thoughts on the seminar they attended in Wisconsin Dells. They recommended for any members that have not attended this seminar to take the opportunity when it comes up. Mary stated it was interesting to hear what other Police and Fire Commissions in communities our size are involved in. Michael Wellner stated his takeaway from this seminar was the hiring process. Deputy Chief Barbier then took the time to explain the hiring process to the commissioners.
