CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mike Leasor at 6:00 p.m. Board Members present: Marty Thomas, Cindy Gardner, Connie McGough, Mike Leasor, and James Leggs. Board Member absent: Carol McKenna, Chris Ohan City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber Citizens Present: None 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM AUGUST MEETING The Board discussed the minutes. The only change was to add Mike Leasor to the list of Board members who were absent. Marty Thomas made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. James Leggs seconded the motion and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS None 4. PRESERVATION MONTH COMMITTEE UPDATE Cindy Gardner updated the Board on the committee which has been formed with two members of the Board and two members of the Historic Landmark Commission. The committee will hold its first meeting on Thursday, October 3 at 6 p.m. at the library. 5. DISCUSS MILL STONE AT MELLOW MUSHROOM Mike Leasor reported that he has not been able to connect with the Slawsons regarding the state of the mill stone or whether they would be interested in donating or loaning it to the museum 6. MUSEUM AND MAN HOUSE MISSION STATEMENTS The Board went over the mission statements that were passed out at last month’s meeting. A few changes were suggested. Jessica will update the mission statements and have them available for further discussion at next month’s meeting. *MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE Jessica stated that money was included in the 2020 budget to work on Phases 3 and 4 of the Man House. She reminded everyone that the house and barn are currently undergoing a stabilization and restoration, which are phases 1 and 2 of the plan for the site. Phases 3 and 4 include: a restroom facility, a visitor’s center, an outdoor amphitheater, and relocating 2 city-owned cabins to the site. Money was also awarded to the museum from Hotel Occupancy Tax funds to put together the exhibits for the Man House. CITY OF MANSFIELD Page 1 Historic Preservation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final September 26, 2019 Board After meeting with the architect and contractors, the planned opening date of the museum has been pushed back. It is now being estimated that the construction will be complete around March and the museum will have a soft opening in April and a large opening event in May in conjunction with Preservation Month. Board members asked if it would be possible to arrange for a tour of the Man House before restoration begins. Jessica said she would see if something could be arranged. 7. MUSEUM COMMITTEES At last month’s meeting, Jessica passed out information about three committees the Museum is forming: a Collection Committee, an Exhibits Committee, and a Programs Committee. She went over the purpose of those committees again and the Board members who had not already volunteered for a committee did so. The Collection Committee is comprised of Cindy Gardner, James Leggs and Mike Leasor. The Exhibits committee is Chris Ohan and Marty Thomas. The Programs Committee has Carol McKenna and Connie McGough. The Exhibits and Programs committee will be open to other members of the community, but the Collection committee will only be made up of museum staff and Board members. 8.
