1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Marty Thomas at 6:06 p.m.

Connie McGough (Via Zoom), Carol McKenna, Chris Ohan, and Marty Thomas.
City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber, Director of Library Services
Yolanda Botello
Citizens Present: None
2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM JUNE MEETING
Chris made a motion to approve the minutes. Carol seconded the motion. All voted in
favor to approve the minutes.
3. CITIZEN COMMENTS
None
4. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE
The contractor’s for the restoration of the house has given the city an updated timeline
for the completion of the project. Their new projected end date is September 27. This
means that our projected opening has been pushed back two months to the end of
October. Of course, this coincides with Halloween and the museum’s annual ghost tour
program, so it may be early November before the museum has an opening event. It
has not yet been decided whether the museum will have ghost tours this year, due to
the pandemic. Jessica will let everyone know what is decided and will need volunteers
to help organize the program.
The idea of doing a program in collaboration with the dog park was suggested. One
idea was a pet photo in front of the house, perhaps with people in period costume. The
photos could be edited to look historical. Jessica will contact the parks department to
see if they are interested in a joint program.
5. MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL BLACK STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION PROJECT
The MHS Black Students’ Association spoke to Councilmen Casey Lewis after the
Black Lives Matter March this summer. One of the things that they discussed was
more historic representation in Mansfield. He suggested that they meet with me and
see what they could do to make some changes at the Museum. After an initial

meeting, it was decided that their group would put together a temporary exhibit which
could later be integrated into our permanent exhibits. The group met with Pastor Evans
on Monday, which Connie and James were able to attend. They plan to meet with
Brenda Norwood soon to get their opinions about what should be included in their
exhibit. Yolie mentioned that if they want Casey Lewis to attend the meetings, that
Mondays are inconvenient for him due to City Council meeting. The board thought that
this was something other student groups could continue to do in future years. Jessica
will keep the Board updated on future meetings and ways we can help them with the
exhibit.
6. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Jessica told the group that she had been contacted by a representative from the
Texas State Historical Association looking for someone to update the city of
Mansfield’s entry in the Handbook of Texas. The last update was in 1994 and several
things need to be tweaked. Cindy and Chris offered to make the updates.
7. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned by Marty at 6:34 p.m.
