CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Cindy Gardner at 6:06 p.m. Board Members present: Jandel Crutchfield, Cindy Gardner, Linda Leddy, Chris Ohan and Tom Leach City Staff present: Jessica Baber, Museum Manager and Amanda Brown, Museum Education and Engagement Specialist 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM MARCH 30 MEETING Jandel made a motion to approve the minutes, Chris seconded the motion and all voted in favor to approve the minutes as written. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were two citizens present at the meeting. They introduced themselves as a father and son. The son was present to help earn a Boy Scout merit badge in communication. 4. PROJECT UPDATES a. Upcoming Programs – Preservation Month is in May. There will be many activities going on downtown and at the Man House on Saturdays. On May 6th, Linda, Marty, Annette, Tom and Chris will be working on the floor cloth painting from 11a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and it will continue to be worked on for the next three Saturdays and beyond until it is completed. Jessica will be presenting a talk on how to preserve and care for family photos at 1:30 p.m. at the Historical Museum on May 6th. b. Black History Meeting – On April 12, Brenda Norwood and Floyd Moody met with museum staff, Jandel and Tom to discuss our goal of increasing our collection and exhibition of black history at the museum. Mrs. Norwood and Mr. Moody shared stories of about their lives and experiences as well some ideas for topics to explore in our exhibits. They gave us the names of two other people to contact. The group also decided it would be a good idea to attend the Norwood’s Juneteenth celebration this year. 5. STEPS PROGRAM The Board completed the Collection Standard section. 6. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Next month’s meeting falls on the same day as the city’s volunteer appreciation event, which all Board members are invited to attend. Therefore, our Board meeting will be moved to 5 p.m. on May 25, so that members can attend the event. 7.
