MAPLE GROVE ARBOR SUBCOMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES INSPECTIONS CONFERENCE ROOM February 7th, 2022 - 10:00 AM Call to Order The special meeting of the Arbor Subcommittee was called to order by Member Sarah Piket at 10:02 a.m. Members Present Don Varney, Marilyn Arnlund Members Absent None Also Present None Approval of Agenda and Don Varney made a motion to approve the agenda of Minutes the February 7th meeting. The motion was seconded by Sarah Piket and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Don Varney made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 24th meeting. The motion was seconded by Marilyn Arnlund and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Old Business Landscape Ordinance Subcommittee members continued discussion about Updates what ordinance changes they would like to recommend regarding soil quality. They reviewed feedback they had received from Dwayne Stenland (Erosion Control Specialist at MNDOT). He recommends in general, 25% compost (grade 2) and 75% of an agricultural defined sandy loam topsoil. They contacted Plaisted companies (a local sand, gravel and soil supplier) to get information on what types of soils are available to developers and landscapers along with high-level pricing. No decisions were made and the subcommittee will reach out to another local soil supplier (Minnesota Topsoil) and continue evaluating what is reasonably available to developers and landscapers. New Business Sample Tree Planting Detail Subcommittee member Varney created a draft diagram Diagram that details specifications for tree planting that the subcommittee will recommend be changes to the ordinance. The diagram is a way to view all specifications along with potentially be used as a communication tool for developers.
