MAPLE GROVE ARBOR SUBCOMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES INSPECTIONS CONFERENCE ROOM January 24th, 2022 - 10:00 AM Call to Order The special meeting of the Arbor Subcommittee was called to order by Member Sarah Piket at 10:15 a.m. Members Present Don Varney, Marilyn Arnlund Members Absent None Also Present None Approval of Agenda and Don Varney made a motion to approve the agenda of Minutes the January 24th meeting. The motion was seconded by Sarah Piket and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Sarah Piket made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 3rd meeting. The motion was seconded by Marilyn Arnlund and passed unanimously on a voice vote. Old Business Landscape Ordinance Subcommittee members discussed specific Updates recommended updates for the Landscape Ordinance. Most of the discussion was regarding soil quality. The goal is to ensure developers amend poor soil if needed before planting trees and other landscaping, however the challenge is finding the appropriate level of detail to indicate how to determine if soil is poor, what to amend it with, how to determine the appropriate amount of amendment material(s), etc. Additionally, the subcommittee believes if those definitions are too complicated or technical, it will be difficult for the city to enforce. No specific recommendations were identified during the meeting. Subcommittee members are reaching out to two experts in the field (Gary Johnson, Dwayne Stenland) who they had previously interviewed to seek guidance and recommendations.
