MOTION TO APPROVE made by Schneider, second by Bergstrand. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. AREA REPORTS Weaver Lake, Nancy Bergstrand – Quiet, nothing to report. Rice Lake, George Schneider – Aerator ready to be turned off. Eagle Lake, Becky Fahrenbruch – No open water. Quiet. Edward Lake, Sharon Martin-Kotula – Aerator is operating. Swans and ducks present. Cedar Island Lake, Steve Lane – Aerator is operating but will be turned off soon. Fish Lake, Joe Randall & Dave Spatafore – an attempt was made to net and remove carp on March 2, 2021. 1,200 feet of net was deployed and encircled the  congregated carp. When pulling the net it caught a lawn mower allowing most of the carp to escape. Approximately 200 carp were caught. 2021 WORK PLAN MOTION TO APPROVE by Schneider, second by Lane. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. OATH OF OFFICE Joe Ruegsegger was sworn in by Councilmember Jaeger. 2021 LAKE Asche presented a synopsis of the Lake Improvement Program (LIP) and noted that IMPROVEMENT staff was recommending the LQC approve total funding from the City (Individual PROGRAM Lake Applications + Basic Annual Programming) of $56,513.40. The LIP applications were presented individually by the submitters and were discussed by the committee. Additional funding was recommended by the committee as follows: 1. Increase Eagle/Pike education by $200.00 2. Increase Weaver Lake Boat Launch Electricity – CD3 project by $1,286.60 3. Increase Fish Lake AIS inspections by $1,600 4. Add new item – Teal Lake Aeration funding in the amount of $300 5. Increase Adopt-A-Drain funding by $100.00 MOTION TO APPROVE the 2021 LIP budget of $60,000 made by Randall, second by Schneider. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. RICE LAKE MOTION TO APPROVE by Lane, second by Martin-Kotula. With all in favor the SLALOM COURSE motion was APPROVED. INFORMATION Asche noted that LQC can participate in Maple Grove Days in 2021 if there are ITEMS volunteers to assist with the project. Property owners the course directly affects must give written permission. 2. Surface floats must be submerged or removed when the course is not in use. 3. The County permit number must be displayed on the end floats. 4. The course cannot exceed 900 feet in length. 5. The course cannot be a navigational, operational or environmental hazard. 6. The permit will be renewed annually and the previous year's complaints will be reviewed. 7. The course and boat path can be no closer than one hundred (100) feet from shore. 8. Maple Grove MN 55369 AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE:  LAKE QUALITY COMMISSION STAFF REPORT TO: Lake Quality Commission (LQC) FROM: Derek Asche, Water Resources Engineer DATE: April 14, 2021 SUBJECT: Receive presentation on chloride and the environment Chloride, commonly referred to as salt, when present in lakes, wetlands, and streams and in high concentrations can impact freshwater fish and other aquatic life. Sources of chloride include deicing, water softeners, and fertilizer. Staff will present background on chloride and the requirements placed on the City to reduce excessive chloride discharge into the environment. RECOMMENDATION: I recommend the LQC receive a presentation on chloride and the environment.
