Mike Sowers, 6995 Magda Drive, reported the fireplace had a
smaller setback than on the site plan displayed by staff. He
explained if he had to adhere to the City’ s setbacks his porch could
only go out 10 feet. He stated this was not enough space for a
table and room to sit around the table. He indicated the additional
two feet would be greatly appreciated.
Mr. Corrow noted that the small bump out created by the fireplace
is permitted and does not require a variance.

Vickerman stated the property had one owner but was a duplex.

the Planning Commission in the past. Mr. Vickerman commented
he did not recall the previous request.

the applicant regarding staying within the 700 square foot
dimension. Mr. Vickerman reported this was discussed with the
applicant and in the end the applicant proposed a garage that was
the length of the home. He indicated staff did not have any
concerns given the fact it was such a minor increase.
Commissioner Klein asked if the Planning Commission should
revisit the 700 square foot limit given the fact vehicles were
increasing in size. Mr. Vickerman commented this would be
something staff could bring back to the Commission for further
consideration.
Commissioner Lindeman indicated this was the only duplex in the
neighborhood that does not have a double car garage for both
units. She explained the proposed garage expansion would be
keeping in line with the adjacent neighborhood.
