Staff Reports Discussion - Chadd Chustz Chair McCann received email from Mr. Chustz regarding sea turtles. Condos are looking for direction to turn pool lighting off in sea turtle season. Member Lamb stated Mr. Chustz needs to clarify if pool light is on, needs to be in compliance with ordinance. b. MIPD Beach Patrol Report Member Lamb stated many hours devoted to beach area. Need more detail from Chief Schettino if this report reflects all beaches, including reports of dogs on Sand Dollar Island. Beach Education Outreach - Camp Mackle Kids - July 12, 2017 Chair McCann is getting presentation information from Katie O'Hara, Chamber of Commerce. Will use boards to educate and craft. Ms. Malloy will check on program from City staff. c. Beach Clean-up Schedule Ms. Malloy added New Life Community Church, Pastor McCully to calendar for July 5th at 6 p.m. on South Beach. Beach Rake Operator from Collier County mentioned to Chair McCann (after Memorial Day weekend) diapers were raked up at South Beach. Health hazard. ID 17-1743 2017 Beach Clean-up Schedule Attachments: 2017 Beach Clean Up Schedule for 6.21.2017 d. Thank you letters to beach clean up sponsors Chair McCann sent letters to Publix and J.W. Marriott thanking them for sponsoring beach clean ups. Will send to Crystal Shores. She will send to sponsors after each clean-up. Member Lamb will gather email addresses for clean up attendees to forward letters. ID 17-1745 Beach cleanup thank you letter to sponsors Attachments: Thank you letters to beach clean up sponsors e. Collier County Parks Update Member Lamb reported update on installation of five (5) benches on beach. Collier County Parks Superintendent changed shipping date to June 26th. Member Lamb will confirm to BchAC to appear at location at time of installation. Can add plaque to one bench with verbiage: " City of Marco Island, Beach Advisory Committee for clean up and preservation of beaches". Member Lamb will get quote for plaque not to exceed amount $500. MOTION by Member Rakestraw, seconded by Vice-Chair Lamb, to install plaque on one bench to say: City of Marco Island, Beautification Advisory Committee, not to exceed $500.00 that this be approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: Yes: 4- Member Rakestraw, Chair McCann, Vice-Chair Lamb and Member Hartzler Not Present: 3- Member Strungis, Member McChesney and Member Novak Member Lamb inquired on ThorGuard lightning protection system for South Beach from Collier County FY18 budget for Winterberry Mackle Park, City Hall. Member Lamb stated MICA has similar system (Residents Beach). Collier County needs to add to FY18 budget if approved. Worth it, if County pays for system. Black Skimmers - Maria Lamb Member Lamb showed two videos from Sand Dollar Island showing black skimmer chicks near walkways on island. 1200 birds nesting, chicks hatchlings on Sand Dollar, island needs protection. Dogs need to be on leashes and kept on boats to not interrupt skimmers. Surpassed last year numbers' being hatched. (7) NEW BUSINESS Vice-Chair Lamb requested an additional push cart and grabbers. Member Hartzler will handle purchase. July 19th meeting is cancelled, next meeting August 16, 2017. Member Lamb thanked Member Rakestraw, his last meeting today. Newly appointed person missed many meetings, need working committee. Chair McCann thanked Member Rakestraw, wished him luck on new move. Ms. Malloy stated next beach clean up is July 8th by Tigertail Friends at Tigertail Beach. August 13th at South Beach at 9:00 a.m. sponsored by CJ's. (8) PUBLIC COMMENT No one in audience.
