(4) VOTING ELECTIONS - CHAIR/VICE CHAIR Voting for Chair: Member Tobin nominated Chair Kirlin to continue as Chair, he accepted nomination Chair Kirlin nominated member Irwin as Vice- Chair of the Beautification Advisory Committe Member Irwin nominated member Connelly as Vice- Chair of the Beautification Advisory Committe , she denied nomination Member Bachich nominated member Irwin as Vice- Chair of the Beautification Advisory Committe Member Irwin nominated member Tobin, for Vice-Chair, she accepted nomination. There were no other nominations. Vote MOTION by Member Tobin to nominate Chair Kirlin to continue as Chair. MOTION by Chair Kirlin, seconded by Member Irwin, that the Minutes of January 8th be amended MOTION CARRIED BY TEH FOLLOWING VOTE: Yes: 5- Chair Kirlin, Member Tobin, Member Connelly, Member Bachich and Member Irwin (7) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Community Affairs Director Daniel Smith, presented Tonia Selmeski notes. Utility Wrap Update- Member Connelly indicated that she wants to discuss with committee members about using another vendor who comes highly recommended. Marco In Bloom Contest - Committee voted to use the Vouchers from the Cul-de-sac voucher program as an award for the Marco In Bloom contest. However, the vouchers can only be used for specific programs. She has communicated that the committee will have to discuss another type of award. a. Utility Wrap Update Member Connelly updated information on the Utility Wrap Artwork submission dates started February 3rd - March 29th. Selection committee artwork date will be March 30th -May 3rd. She also discusses estimated prices on three (3) different vendors and has contacted new vendor that offers bump out boxes pricing. Member Connelly continued by updating on donations, and communicated that there is enough money, which will be used to reward each artist $1000 dollars per box once they select the artist. And she also informed that Marco Island Center for the Arts, are still accepting donations for artist rewards. b. Awards for Marco In Bloom Chair Kirlin communicated that the voucher programs can’t not be used as an award and has suggested to make a motion on removing that option as prize award. MOTION by Chair Kirlin. seconded by Member Bachich.to remove boucher program as an award. Nancy Adams full time resident in Marco Island has communicated her concerns and is not happy with Cul-de-sac maintenance in Gayer way. and is requesting to keep Cul-de-sac maintenance. Affordable Landscaping presented his contract whit the Cul-de-sac and has reviewed the maintenance proses. After the discussion, Affordable land caping has agreed to meet up with Mrs. Adams to come up with a solution and restore the Cul-de-sac. (9) PRESENTATIONS NONE (10) OLD BUSINESS None. a. Tree City Update - Becky Irwin Member Irwin mentioned that she is missing information from City staff and will complete application once she gets that missing information. b. Committee Outreach Opportunities (Farmers Market Table) Chair Kirlin noted that Member Tobin, and Member Bachich were present at the Farmers Market Beautification Advisory Committee table Member Tobin continued by informing that Marco island residents were interested in the programs that the BAC committee was presenting. And possible continue having more information available every week during Farmer Market dates. Member Bachich communicated that the posters brought resident attention to the Beautification Advisory Committee Farmers Market table. c. Adopt-A-Cul-de-Sac Vouchers Chair Kirlin - postponed Increasing amount until update on Cul-de-sac care from Affordable landscaping, No further information. d. Marco Nature Night Presentation Update Member Connelly reviewed quote information on poster presentation. She continued by suggesting on purchasing easels for future presentation. She continues by updating on the Marco Nature Night event and shared information on several businesses that are participating with promoting information on event, and donations. MOTION by Member Connelly, seconded by Vice Chair Tobin, To approve the purchase of two easels. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: City of Marco Island Florida Page 3 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final February 5, 2020 Yes: 5- Chair Kirlin, Member Tobin, Member Connelly, Member Bachich and Member Irwin e. 2020 Arbor Day/Tree Planting - Becky Irwin Member Irwin updated information on Arbor Day event which is scheduled for April 22, 2020 and mention the possibility of using a Mulberry Tree for the Tree planting project. f. 2020 Marco in Bloom - Maria Tobin Member Tobin discussed Marco in Bloom (MiB) Florida friendly Landscape contest has begun. Coastal Breeze, and Marco Island Gazette will be publishing nomination form. Every Marco Island resident will receive a newspaper letter. City of Marco Island, Mackle Community Park, and Community liberty will be having fliers as well as the City web site. 98.1 FM Marco island local radio station has given free advertising. Deadline date is March 13, 2020, and winner’s announcement will be April 6, 2020 g. Edible Garden Member Irwin updated information on the tree donation, and possible having a discussion with the County Foster about putting Citrus at the park. (11) NEW BUSINESS None. (12) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Member Bachich discussed information on 501 C veterans park for adopting tree program. 501 C is available for other venues too use. She also shared some Tree Planting program information from other local business. a. Committee Concerns None. b. Future Agenda Recommendations None.
