(2) ROLL CALL Present: 4- Chair Kirlin, Member Strungis, Member Connelly and Member Cummings Absent: 2- Member Tobin and Member Irwin (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Kirlin. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA MOTION by Member Connelly, seconded by Member Strungis, that the Agenda be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: Yes: 4- Chair Kirlin, Member Strungis, Member Connelly and Member Cummings (5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ID 20-1139 Beautification Advisory Committee Minutes of October 7, 2020. MOTION by Member Cummings, seconded by Member Strungis, that the meeting minutes from October 7, 2020 be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: Yes: 4- Chair Kirlin, Member Strungis, Member Connelly and Member Cummings (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS a. Staff Update San Marco Island sidewalk project is substantially completed the final completion will be in two weeks. The pathway runs from Marco Island Academy to 400 feet east of Vintage Bay Drive. Chair Kirlin asked Mr. Pinter if they will be adding trees as well, however, Mr. Pinter said no, the main City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final November 4, 2020 focused is on the sidewalk. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT No comments were presented at this moment in time. (8) PRESENTATIONS - None No presentation was presented at this time. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Utility Wraps (Update) Mr. Pinter has not received an invoice from Al Benarroch,Owner of Affordable landscaping in regarding of the pavers yet. Member Connelly plans on gathering at least three painting contractors estimates and from there select the best option to proceed with covering the wraps without damaging the concrete and require much maintenance. b. 2020 Marco In Bloom Contest- Proposals For Improvement Chair Kirlin recommended that they wait for Vice-Chair Tobin for this agenda topic. c. Arbor-day & Tree City USA (Update) Both Public Works Director,Tim Pinter and Chair Kirlin completed the questionnaire sheet for Tree City USA. d. Recommended Tree List for Parks (Update) Chair Kirlin went before the Parks and Rec Committee to discuss the recommended trees that should be planted in the parks. Overall the Committee was receptive over the trees that were requested. The Parks and Rec Committee would like a cost comparison between the trees that the Beautification requested versus the trees that were originally picked out. Chair Kirlin will work on that and will have more of an update for the next meeting. e. Approved Tree List for Code Trees for New Construction (Update) There are no updates at the moment. f. Nature Nights 2021- Discussion on proposals The Committee is having some complications planning this event due to the COVID-19 virus. Chair Kirlin recommended having the event at Mackle Park, however; what concerns the Committee is that the event would not be recorded. The Committee agreed that it is important that the event be recorded so people who are unable to attend can still view it online. If the event proceeds the main objective would be the Fertilizer Ordinance. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. 2021 BAC Projects Chair Kirlin suggested waiting to discuss about Marco and Bloom. Committee Concerns/Future Agenda Member Connelly collected three estimates for the banners being hung in Marco. All three quotes are relatively close in price and offer the same things. Member Connelly main purpose is to purchase from a vendor that supplies a banner with a long life that can maintain a vibrant color. The previous banner purchased faded quickly and the Committee would like to prevent this. Member Cummings had a follow up regarding the Marco Lake Drive. Member Cummings measured the swales and looked around the area and agreed that there could be some improvements. Mr. Pinter did not disagree with the idea of planting trees on Marco Lake Drive. Member Cummings agreed to work with Mr. Pinter to see where and how many trees can be planted. The Committee all agreed to created Consensus in regarding of planting at least 8 trees on Marco Lake Drive area.
