(2) ROLL CALL Present: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Nesmith, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly Not Present: 1- Member Kramer Also Present City Councilor Becky Irwin ( arrived at 3:56 P.M.) Al Benarroch, Principal, Affordable Landscape Service and Design LLC CITY STAFF: Timothy Pinter, Public Works Director Martin Luna, Video/ Broadcast Technician Jim Kornas, Recording Specialist Tracey Barnett, Administrative Assistant Public Works Department (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Connelly. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Public Works Director Pinter proposed the addition of item 9d. (Presentation of 2021 Marco -In- Bloom contest awards) under Old Business. MOTION by Member Eby, seconded by Vice Chair Tobin, that the Agenda be Approved as Amended. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Nesmith, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly (5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ID 21-1510 Meeting Minutes of April 1, 2021 MOTION by Vice Chair Tobin, seconded by Member Nesmith, that the Minutes of April 1, 2021 be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Nesmith, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS a. Marco Lake Tree Placement Plan Public Works Director Pinter suggested waiting until rainy season to plant and is obtaining pricing from Affordable Landscape Service and Design LLC. Other Updates Public Works Director Pinter asked Committee Members to suggest items for next year's budget. He also updated the Committee on the status of repairs to utility box wraps. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT No public comments were received during this portion of the meeting. (8) PRESENTATIONS No presentations were presented at this meeting. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Fertilizer Card Update (Member Cummings) ID 21-1529 Fertilizer Card Update Member Cummings presented the estimates that she received for the Fertilizer Card. Vice Chair Tobin proposed that the Committee appoint a Member to develop a communication plan for the Card. Member Eby volunteered to lead this effort. Public Comment Mr. Al Benarroch of Affordable Landscape and Design LLC suggested that the Card be included with future Water Bill mailings to City customers. MOTION by Member Eby, seconded by Member Nesmith that Marco Printing be selected to print the Committee's fertilizer information card. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Nesmith, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly b. Prioritization of Committee Website Content Member Cummins volunteered to provide content updates to the City Staff. All Members of the Committee will come to the next meeting to discuss the prioritization of website content. c. Public Murals - Report & Committee Next Steps (Member Nesmith/Chair Connelly) Member Nesmith will email his package of information to City Staff for placement on the Committee's next Agenda. Chair Connelly asked all Members of the Committee to consider both public buildings and private businesses for potential participation in this effort. d. Marco-In-Bloom Award Presentations Vice Chair Tobin presented the Awards to winners of the 2021 Marco-In-Bloom Contest. Chair Connelly and the Committee led a round of applause for all of the winners. City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final May 5, 2021 e. 2022 Marco-In-Bloom Contest Leadership Appointment Member Eby volunteered to lead the 2022 Marco-In-Bloom Contest. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. Seasonal Light Presentation / Display Plan at Judge SS Jolley Bridge (Chair Connelly) Member Nesmith and Chair Connelly to run this plan. They will ask Christmas Island Style for suggestions on decorations for entrance by the Bridge. Awaiting information from City as to where the power is located in Medians for these decorations. b. Public Beach Access Path Beautification / Re-Design Project (Chair Connelly) Councilor Becky Irwin requested that the Committee investigate actions to improve the Public Beach Access at Winterberry and Maple Avenues. Ideas included improved signage, creative bicycle parking solutions, and interesting information for beach goers on the unique ecosystem of Marco Island. Member Nesmith and Chair Connelly agreed to head this effort. c. Citizen Suggestion re: Fence 'Softening' at Calusa Park (All) After discussion on ways to improve, the Committee decided to defer this item to a future meeting. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Member Eby raised concern regarding sidewalk staining from Black Olive trees. Affordable Landscape will investigate insecticides or other means to address this issue. All Members of the Committee, with the exception of Member Cummings, indicated their intention to be available for the Committee's next meeting Wednesday June 2, at 3:30 P.M.
