(2) ROLL CALL Present: 7- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Leaser, Member Nesmith, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly Also Present City Councilor Becky Irwin City Staff: Laura Litzan, City Clerk Martin Luna, Video/Broadcast Technician Tracey Barnett, Administrative Assistant Public Works (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Connelly. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA MOTION by Member Eby, seconded by Member Nesmith, that the Agenda be Approved. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT None. (8) PRESENTATIONS None. (9) OLD BUSINESS City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final November 3, 2021 a. Seasonal Light Display Update (Director Pinter, Chair Connelly) ID 21-1884 Seasonal Light Display Update Ms. Laura Litzan updated the Committee 1) that the $14,900 that has been funded for the seasonal light display. 2) The Founders Park installation was completed by Holiday Trimmers Decor, and 3) Bentley Electric will ensure that there is power for additional lights and the Christmas tree at the park. Also, the contract with Holiday Trimmers is for 3 years. Chair Connelly added that the light poles do have the capability of being lit and every other one will be wrapped with garland and lights entering the island. The Committee asked for a Committee/Council get together to mark the initial lighting. b. Tree City Application Process Update (Vice Chair Tobin) ID 21-1886 Tree City Application Process Update Vice Chair Tobin updated the Committee on the Tree City USA application process. The final requirement is to upload the official city proclamation which needs to be completed within the next week. There was no requirement for planting a tree, but a tree was donated by Affordable Landscaping and Design which will be planted sometime in November at Winterberry Park. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. Marco Island Tree Info Graphic (Member Leaser) ID 21-1887 Marco Island Tree Info Graphic Member Leaser and Councilor Becky Irwin explained the graphic of planting 10,000 trees in 10 years. The Committee agreed by consensus that Member Leaser will present the materials to the City Council at their next meeting. b. Marco Nature Night 2022 (Chair Connelly) ID 21-1888 Marco Nature Night 2022 Chair Connelly led discussion about the location of the event. Suggestions were Rose Auditorium or Rose Hall because of the projected large turn out. Also discussed were topics for the event, advertising, speakers, presenters, refreshments and date. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS a. Member Availability for Next Meeting December 1, 2021 @ 3:00 P.M. All Members of the Committee indicated their intention to be available for the Committee's next meeting on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. b. Sharing of Thoughts on Topics for Committee Concern and Interest City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final November 3, 2021 Member Eby updated the Committee on the progression of Marco In Bloom, dates, advertisement sharing a draft of the press release, and budget from the prior event. A discussion of possibly going as a group to view the homes nominated and will be discussed further at the next meeting. Chair Connelly shared beach access project update that all art ideas, murals, bike racks, lighting, landscaping,etc. need to be organized into a packet and represented to the City Council at the first of the year. All to be discussed further at the next meeting.
