(2) ROLL CALL Present: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Leaser, Vice-Chair Tobin and Chair Connelly Absent: 2- Member Kramer and Member Nesmith Also Present Timothy Pinter, Director of Public Works Martin Luna, Video/ Broadcast Technician Tracey Barnett, Administrative Assistant Public Works (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Connelly. (8) PRESENTATIONS None. (9) OLD BUSINESS City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final December 1, 2021 a. Seasonal Light Display- update on initial lighting (Director Pinter, Chair Connelly) ID 21-1998 Seasonal Light Display Director Pinter advised the Committee that the Seasonal lighting display was complete with the exception of the welcome sign at the base of the bridge. Chair Connelly will reach out to Holiday Trimmers to get a time frame of when that will be completed. All Committee members were pleased with how beautiful the light display was at the entrance to the Island and at Founders park. b. Marco Nature Night 2022 Update (Chair Connelly) ID 21-1999 Marco Nature Night 2022 Chair Shelli Connelly informed the Committee that the Marco Nature Night 2022 will be held in the Community Room and the adjacent lobby. A decision was made that the date of the event will be Wednesday February 16, 2022 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. A discussion about which organizations would be asked to be presenters and/or table exhibitors was undertaken. Suggestions for the table displays included having hands-on, interactive displays. All Committee members agreed to help with the event organization, set up and the marketing of the event. c. Marco In Bloom 2022 (Member Eby) ID 21-2000 Marco in Bloom 2022 Member Eby updated the Committee of his progress with Marco In Bloom 2022. The event flyer has been posted to the BAC webpage with a nomination sheet. The Committee discussed the categories to be judged, the scoring spreadsheet, and who would be in charge of recording all entries. All proposals raised were accepted by the Committee. d. Beach Access Project Update (Chair Connelly) ID 21-2001 Beach Access Project Chair Connelly reminded the Committee that she was preparing a packet containing all of the Beach Access project ideas that will be presented to the City Council. Some of the ideas brought up included benches, trashcans, lighting and art. Also, the Committee discussed which projects should be done in order of importance, as well as safety issues and aesthetics. (10) NEW BUSINESS a. 2022 Meeting Schedule ID 21-1989 2022 Meeting Schedule The Committee decided to keep the 1st Wednesday of every month at 3:00 P.M. for the 2022 meeting schedule. Member Availability for Next Meeting January 5, 2022 @ 3:00 P.M. All members of the Committee indicated their intention to be available for the Committee's next meeting on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. b. Sharing of Thoughts on Topics for Committee Concern and Interest Member Leaser briefly commented on the presentation of "10,000 Trees in 10 Years", for the upcoming City Council meeting. Vice Chair Tobin spoke about Arbor Day and obtained the Tree City nomination for 2021. No celebration of this nomination had taken place for the past two years, but the Committee may wish to celebrate this next year. Vice Chair Tobin would like the City to allow for tree planting on residential lots, but she was advised that this proposal was already in the presentation to the City Council by Member Leaser.
