(2) ROLL CALL Present: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Nesmith and Chair Connelly Absent: 2- Member Leaser and Vice-Chair Tobin Also Present Timothy Pinter, Director of Public Works Marin Luna, Video/Broadcast Technician Jim Kornas, Recording Specialist (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Connelly. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA MOTION by Member Nesmith, seconded by Member Eby that the Agenda be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Nesmith and Chair Connelly (5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ID 21-2026 Approval of the Minutes from BAC Meeting on 12/1/21 MOTION by Member Cummings, seconded by Member Eby that the MInutes from the prior meeting held on 12/1/21 be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Nesmith and Chair Connelly (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Public Works Director Timothy Pinter was pleased to advise the Committee of Marco Island's continuing recognition and designation as a Tree City USA Community for 2021. He showed the newly-received Tree City USA flag that will be displayed on the grounds of City Hall, and he projected an image of the annually update-able wall plaque that Tree City USA sent in honor of the City's award. Also, in response to a question raised by Chair Connelly, Mr. Pinter provided the Committee with an overview of the ongoing cooperation with the Christmas Island Style Committee and the City's newly-selected Christmas lighting contractor in providing festive holiday lighting at the entrance to the Island from the Judge SS Jolley Bridge and at Mackle Park. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT Ms. Yvette Bennaroch of Affordable Landscape & Design Inc. provided an update on the status of current landscaping and maintenance efforts on the Island, and she indicated her company's support for the City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final January 5, 2022 Committee's ongoing direction. (8) PRESENTATIONS None. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Marco Nature Night 2022 Update (Chair Connelly) Chair Connelly reviewed the list of individuals and organizations who have agreed to participate in the 2022 Marco Nature Night event. She advised the Committee of the three individuals who have agreed to make presentations at the event, and she reviewed the list of required supporting materials and organizations that still need to be confirmed to ensure the event's success. Public Works Director Timothy Pinter and the Committee collaborated with Chair Connelly in assigning who will be responsible for completing the various arrangements and tasks that she outlined. b. Marco in Bloom 2022 Update (Member Eby) Member Eby shared several elements of his plan for the 2022 competition and solicited insight from the members of the Committee and Public Works Director Pinter on the promotional aspects of the program. c. Beach Access Project Update (Chair Connelly) Chair Connelly indicated her intention to devote her full focus on this project once the Marco Nature Night arrangements have been confirmed. (10) NEW BUSINESS None. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Member Eby asked Public Works Director Pinter for the status of the "10,000 Trees in 10 Years" presentation and proposal for the Marco Island City Council. Mr. Pinter shared his understanding of the timetable for that presentation and review. Members stated their intentions of being available for the next meeting on 2/2/22 at 3:00 P.M.
