(2) ROLL CALL Present: 7- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Leaser, Vice-Chair Nesmith, Member Tobin and Chair Connelly Also Present City Staff: Timothy Pinter, Director of Public Works Martin Luna, Video/ Broadcast Technician Tracey Barnett, Administrative Assistant for Public Works (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Connelly. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA MOTION by Member Eby, seconded by Vice-Chair Nesmith that the Agenda be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 7- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Leaser, Vice-Chair Nesmith, Member Tobin and Chair Connelly (5) APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ID 22-2162 Approval of the Minutes MOTION by Member Cummings, seconded by Member Eby that the Minutes from the prior meeting held on March 2, 2022 be Approved. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 7- Member Cummings, Member Eby, Member Kramer, Member Leaser, Vice-Chair Nesmith, Member Tobin and Chair Connelly (6) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Timothy Pinter advised the Committee that this will be his last meeting as he is leaving the City. The Committee expressed it's appreciation for his leadership and support, and wished him well. Mr. Pinter also made mention of an approved tree list for Marco Island is being worked on by the City as per Member Leaser's request. Chair Connelly asked if she could obtain an update on the balance of the BAC budget for the remainder of the fiscal year. Mr. Pinter will obtain that information from the Finance Department. (7) PUBLIC COMMENT None. (8) PRESENTATIONS City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final April 6, 2022 None. (9) OLD BUSINESS a. Marco in Bloom 2022 Update (Member Eby) ID 22-2204 Marco in Bloom 2022 Member Eby led the discussion on the Marco in Bloom entries. All members of the Committee visited and reviewed each entry and graded each one individually. All shared their totals, determining a winner and runner up for each category. b. Beach Access Beautification Project Update (Chair Connelly/ Member Cummings) ID 22-2205 Beach Access Beautification Project Update Member Cummings shared a presentation of the project, added brief descriptions, and included new pictures from a prior presentation given by Chair Connelly. After determining the items that it would like to improve, the Committee decided to give this presentation to the City Council and to ask for it's approval and direction on moving forward on this project. c. BAC Website Update (Member Leaser) ID 22-2206 BAC Website Update Member David Leaser showed the Committee the changes that had been made to the BAC website. He noted how much more organized and eye pleasing the website is, and he pointed out the ability to still add content. d. 10,000 Trees in 10 Years Initiative (Update) ID 22-2207 10,000 Trees in 10 Years Initiative Member David Leaser updated the Committee on the progress of the 10,000 tress in 10 years initiative. He is awaiting the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Marco Island and the Naples Botanical Garden. Once the MOU is received, he will develop a proposal which will come back to the Committee for a review, then present it to the City Council by the summer. (10) NEW BUSINESS None. (11) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS a. Member Availability for the Next Meeting May 4, 2022 @ 3:00 P.M. This was not discussed. b. Sharing of Thoughts on Topics of Committee Interest (All) City of Marco Island Florida Page 2 Beautification Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final April 6, 2022 Chair Connelly communicated that the Calusa Garden Club is looking for the BAC to use some of it's funds to help keep the Butterfly Garden maintained. Mr. Pinter advised this has never happened in the past, and he suggested that it should come from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee budget and not the BAC's budget. Member Tobin reminded the Committee of the Arbor Day celebration on April 29, 2022 between 9:00-10:30 A.M. at Winterberry Park by the baseball field. She requested $200 for refreshments from the BAC budget.
