Recreation Programs - Lola Dial Camp Mackle averaging 72 kids a day, different schedule every day. Sun N Fun water park was scheduled today. LIT's work well with children. Added Camp Stellar for Middle School children, new experiences such as; Science, Optical Course, Art Day, Cooking Day. Sailing Camp - strong beginners classes are full. Intermediate classes to start soon. Paddleboarding - full camp Police/Fire good Junior Chef- Lola trainer Kick Boxing/Martial Arts on Thursday New enrichment camp - Spanish class for 3rd graders b. Facilities Update - Alex Galiana Summer busy with catch-up - major work on Winterberry field, turf replacement program with 10,000 sq. ft of turf, adding new track material from capital budget, Little League raised funds pad was added, netting and turf will be installed in September. Turf project will be closed for three (3) weeks to adhere. Turf gets trimmed weekly on Thursday. Ready for football game for August 19th. Charter Middle School and Optimist use field. c. New Mackle Park Community Center Update - Alex Galiana Getting ready to move, packing. Air conditioner has problems, only using for new three weeks. Replacing rug on one Bocce Court. Set to close - August 7th. Camp Mackle closes August 5th. August 8 - 12 moving out of community center to teen center. No park services August 15 - 19 open limited services - moving tables, chair to church to accommodate programs. Contractor will be receiving Notice to Proceed on August 8th. New Building completed in one year. Racquet Center - Courts 3 and 4 replaced middle lines. Funding plan to move Racquet Center in general account and take our to Enterprise Account. Last year broke even with budget, final budget will be approved after millage completed. $84,000 for next years budget, shade shelters, wind screens, ceiling in RC room. approved for $16,000 to replace carpet for 2 other Bocce Courts. Airnasium is constantly being used, not able to add Pickleball courts, too busy for basketball courts at Mackle Park. $125,000 approved for FY17 $10,000 approved for concerts in the park Bocce Courts - handicapped used? no use. Mr. Hernstadt explained Enterprise Fund going to General Fund to help keep fees up to date. Enterprise fund was established for programs receiving funds for programs. RC had own cost center and own revenue. Parks & Recreation will roll into General Account. RC membership fees pays for expenses, move to general fund to catch up with adjusting fees for recreational programs. RC open in afternoon to man it. Will bring back recommendation for next season, January - March - possibly keep center open 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (5) COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS None. (6) OLD BUSINESS Love Dog Park requested restroom at location . Committee can suggest permanent restroom at dog park for FY18 budget, Mr. Hernstadt stated the cost is $100,000 for pre-fabricated restroom. Prioritize budget requests. Add for discussion for next Spring, keep on wish list. (7) NEW BUSINESS (8) PUBLIC COMMENT Resident Mrs. Aunutto requested another survey for a better plan for new band shell. Chair Swiacki stated he is waiting for new architect design concept. City will take considerations for property owners. Public needs to attend meetings once plans are completed to give their comments. Michael Levine stated view of back of band shell is not conducive to existing properties. Mr. Hernstadt suggested architect design three (3) concept proposals to best fit the location with extensive landscaping plan for all public to see. Dawn Kuhn 505 Tigertail Court - stated she visited a Michigan park well attended with many amenities. Important to educate residents on funding. She suggested having Pickleball (without fencing) at Mackle Park.
