Councilman Chapman, Councilman Carter, Councilman Ray, and
Mayor Howard
Absent: Councilman Perry, and Mayor Pro-Tem McIntyre
Prayer: Mr. Barker
Mayor Howard called Meeting to order
Discussion
Mayor Howard asked for approval of minutes for May28, 2019.
Councilman Carter made the Motion to approve minutes for May 28, 2019.
Councilman Ray seconded the Motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Howard informed the Council that Elaine St. needs an overlay or
the City will lose the road. Mr. Barker stated that the paving would have to
go all the way back to the Mashburns in order for the overlay to be
effective. Massey Asphalt stated that the job would be around $8000.00 to
repair and this does include labor. Councilman made the Motion to fix
Elaine St. Councilman Ray seconded the Motion. Motion passes
unanimously.
The new City Hall has been bricked, electrical and plumbing studs are
done.
Mayor Howard told the Council that the door system is running from
$15,000.00 to $18,000.00 and that is high, so Mr. Barker is getting another
bid.
Mr. Barker informed the Council that he has two people for the telephone
cable wiring. Home Tech for $4115.00 which could start the next day and
ALW for $3915.00 who can start in 2 days. Councilman Ray made the
Motion to hire ALW to do the telephone cable wiring for the new City Hall.
Councilman Chapman seconded the Motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Barker and the Council discussed the sink hole located at 1001 Allison
Court. Mayor Howard will uncover the hole on Saturday, so that it will be
ready for Public Works to start working on Monday.
The 3-way stop at Brookhaven was next on the Agenda. The County does
not see a viable way for the 3 way stop because there is not enough sight.
The Council briefly discussed the house on Joy St. Mr. Barker advised the
Council that the City Attorney suggested legal alternatives. The Council is
interested in finding other alternatives rather that legal.
Councilman Carter would like the Council to start coming up with ideas
concerning the Christmas Parade.
Councilman Chapman made the Motion to adjourn. The Motion was
seconded by Councilman Ray. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
