20170528 Neighborhood Cut Through Improvements
Discussion regarding the following:
It has always been our intention to follow the generally accepted standards in
regard to stop signs and not restricting the flow of traffic with 3000 plus cars.
But I think time has come to seriously address the exponential increase in cross
flow traffic in our City and through our neighborhoods. Discussion to modify
regulations as necessary to protect the safety of our Citizens and the integrity of
our neighborhoods.
· Items to be discussed and explanations given
· A more liberal use of stop signs in neighborhoods in the city.
· More explanations about uses and limitations of speed tables.
· More funds dedicated to neighborhood sidewalks.
· Rumble strips should be considered at many of the intersections throughout
the City to help encourage people to actually stop at intersections.
· Physical calming devices (medians) such as those along Church seem like
potential options for City neighborhoods. How could those be thoughtfully
incorporated?
· What is the potential for enforcement of stop signs and/or speed in our
neighborhood? I realize that our PD has much more important work to do than
traffic enforcement, but periodic enforcement could help reduce the rate of
infractions.
· Along with the above discussion I would like to propose a stop sign at
Wisteria Drive and Woodvalley Drive.
Requested by Councilmember Grif Chalfant Jr.
