VILLAGE OF MARQUETTE GREEN LAKE COUNTY, WISCONSIN Regular Meeting Minutes, October 10, 2022 - Village Hall The regular meeting of the Village Board, for the Village of Marquette, was called to order by President Cybul at 7:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll Call: President – Art Cybul - present Clerk - Julie Powell –absent Trustee – Peter Michalos - present Treasurer – Paula Gilbertson – present Trustee Tony Deiss- present There were 8 citizens and Dan Sondalle, Village Attorney in attendance. Certification of Compliance with the Open Meetings Law: Agenda notice was posted in three public places - Village Hall door, kiosks at the Post Office and Truck Garage and emailed to Berlin Journal Newspapers and on the Village website. A motion to approve the agenda was made. Michalos /Deiss. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Approval of Minutes sent to Board Members: All minutes are posted on the Village Website and in the kiosks as a draft for the Board and the public to review. A motion was made to approve the Regular Board meeting minutes on September 12, 2022 as presented. Deiss/Michalos. Motion passed. (Unanimous). The Treasurer’s report was read. A Motion to approve the treasurer’s report as read. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Approve Payment of Bills: Presented for payment were vouchers 9505-9521 in the amount of $2,139.47 plus $3,500.00 for the maintained balance and utilities for a Grand total of $5,639.47. Motion to pay the bills as presented and transfer from the appropriate accounts the amount of $3,000.00 to the General Fund. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Citizen Comments – Time Limits and Rules Apply: Janet Burdick brought in her signed copies of the petition for repair of County Road H through the Village. Signers were very receptive and the Village should keep on top of it. Future plans include newspaper information and County meetings. Signatures will continue to be collected in person and at the bars for Village people and Township people. Discuss / Approve: Libby Nehring inquiring options for rocks in culvert in right of way on her property: Libby was not present at the meeting. The culverts were replaced years ago and the rocks were put in to capture water and sediment before it gets to the lake. The question of liability if someone gets hurt on the rocks the Village Insurance Company said “yes” we would defend and cover the Village for any legal liability arising out of your ownership, use, and maintenance of any Village property or right of way. No action taken. Choose date and/time for Budget Hearing: After discussion a motion was made to hold the budget hearing on November 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. with the regular Village board meeting to immediately follow. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Appoint Deb Flagel as (“Temporary”) Deputy Clerk: After discussion a motion was made to appoint Deb Flagel as Deputy Clerk for a minimum of six months. Deiss/Michalos. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Open Mowing Bids: After discussion a motion was made to table the mowing bids until November 14,2022 meeting. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (Unanimous). Pier storage location update: Tony said that the Lyons Street pier was removed on 10/09/2022 and was put on the east side of the truck garage. Tony anticipates that the Charlevoix Street pier will be taken out the second week of November. No action taken Board Reminders/Updates: The plow truck will be taken to Rennert’s for maintenance. Art is going to make a log for the plow truck showing maintenance and plowing hours. Art is still working on many grants for playground and speed control.
