BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR A GREATER MASSENA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES May 17, 2018 Board Members: Ron Bacon, Vice President Dan Pease Paul Rufa, President, Conf Call Anthony Viskovich Jeff Dobbins Staff: Tom Sullivan, Executive Director Linda Williams, Secretary Public: Melanie Cunningham, Town of Massena Call to Order BDC Vice President, Ron Bacon, called the meeting to order at 4:40 pm. Minutes of the March Regular Meeting A motion was made by Dan Pease to approve the March 2018 Minutes. Jeff Dobbins pointed out that the date for the St. Lawrence County Economic Development Advisory Board upcoming meeting should have been April 11; with amendment the motion to accept the minutes was seconded by Jeff Dobbins and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’. Financial Report s for January, February, March, April 2018 No Financial Reports were available Comparative Budget s for January, February, March, April 2018 These were not available Operations Committee Tom: No meeting this month Infrastructure Committee Tom: No meeting this month Marketing Committee Tom: No meeting this month Alcoa/ Arconics Update Tom: Nothing new to report Community Revitalization Committee Tom: The committee met today, and is moving forward with the grant application Consolidated Financial Application They are particularly interested in receiving private enterprise, job growth applications; those applications will be given special attention Grasse River Clean Up Tom: Reviewed the plans last night at a meeting in the Community Center, and the plans now are to be “in the river” by 2019 Industrial Park/Rail Spur Tom: Dennis Elias, Erdman Anthony, is reaching out to surveyors, and is going to make every effort to have the rail pad complete by the end of August but it will probably be later in the fall. Massena Core of the Community Tom: We have three new businesses requesting some assistance and will be working with them in the next couple of weeks. Moving Massena Forward Community Coalition Working with the Revitalization Group North Country Regional Economic Development Council There is a May 23 meeting scheduled and a workshop that afternoon RACER/General Motors Site Tom: This is progressing well; underground waste water structure is in place. Melanie: On Wednesday, at their regular meeting, the Town of Massena voted to endorse the Mohawk Tribes interest in purchasing a portion of the south section for a Welcome Center. Restore New York Grant Tom: The work on the Slavin’s Building is progressing St. Lawrence Country Economic Development Advisory Board Tom: There was a meeting on May 8 St. Lawrence Soyway Tom: There is no news from this company Theatre - New York Main Street Grant Tom: They are making progress Consultant & Liaison Reports No questions/comments Questions from the Press No representative at the meeting May 17, 2018 Minutes - BDC Board Meeting Pg 2 of 3 Move to Executive Session At 5:20 pm Dan Pease made a motion that the Board move to Executive Session, that was seconded by Anthony Viskovich and passed with all members present voting “Aye”. Move to Close Executive Session At 5:45 pm Anthony Viskovich moved that the Board close the Executive Session, that was seconded by Jeff Dobbins and passed with all members present voting “Aye”. Adjournment A motion was made by Dan Pease to adjourn at 5:45 pm, that motion was seconded by Ron Bacon and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’. The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Massena Business Development Corporation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 4:30 pm, in Room 30 of the Town Hall.
