PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES May 04, 2026 at 4:45 PM 1260 North Road Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Board of Parks Commission met on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Public Works Building. Chair Mike Taake called the meeting to order at 4:47 p.m. Members present were Mike Taake, Laura Taake, Lori Hammer, Mary Ann Allaby, and Julie Lynch. Absent were Dan Holzberger and Amanda Ketcham. Also present was Parks Superintendent Jordan Wilke. Two Mauston High School students were in attendance observing democracy as part of a classroom assignment. 2. Minutes: Motion by L. Taake, seconded by Allaby, to approve the April 6, 2026, minutes. Motion carried by voice vote. 3. Financial Reports: The April financial reports were reviewed with no concerns or questions. 4. Park Board Recognition: Wilke reported that commemorative trees and plaques are being purchased in recognition of former Park Board members Jim Kolba and Todd Galbrecht. The Kolba tree and plaque will be placed at Lions Park and the Galbrecht tree and plaque at Riverside Park. The Park Board thanks both gentlemen for their contribution of time, thought, and effort over many years on the Park Commission Board. Chair Mike Taake welcomed Julie Lynch to the Board. 5. Sterling Walsh Backboard: Chair Mike Taake reported that the April 25, 2026, dedication event for the Sterling Walsh hitting wall at Lions Park was well attended. Wilke noted that minor installation issues were identified and the company has been contacted regarding repairs. 6. June Park Walkthrough: The June 1, 2026, meeting will include the annual park walkthrough beginning at the boat landing pavilion at 4:45 p.m. Riverside Park and Marachowsky Park will be toured, with additional parks visited as time permits. 7. Staff Report: Wilke reported that a dedicated spokesperson/liaison procedure is being developed for park usage groups to improve communication and coordination. Reservation forms will be updated accordingly. Staff continue preparing parks for the summer season, including installation of piers and docks, mowing operations, and restroom maintenance and repairs. 8. Adjourn: Motion by Allaby, seconded by M.
