POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MINUTES
April 24, 2025 at 5:30 PM
303 Mansion Street Mauston, WI
1. Call to Order/Roll Call
The Police and Fire Commission meet on April 24, 2025, in the Council Chambers of Mauston City
Hall. Chair Brian McGuire called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. The members present were
Katie Gruman, Brian McGuire, and Gary Purvis. Absent was Deborah Shuman and Jack Hammer.
Also present were Police Chief Mike Zilisch, Fire Chief Brent Lenorud, and City Administrator
Daron Haugh.
2. Appointments: The agenda items appointing the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary were postponed
until such time as all Police and Fire Commission members are present.
5. Minutes: Motion made by McGuire, seconded by Purvis to approve the minutes of March 24,
2025. Motion carried.

6. Financial Report: Motion made by Gruman, seconded by Purvis to approve the financial report.
Motion carried.
7. Fire Chief's Report
Chief Lenorud reported on and discussed the fire calls for March 2025. He also reported that the
new firefighters were now fully intergrated into the fire department. The fire department open house
is Sunday, May 4 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Motion made by McGuire, seconded by Gruman
to approve the Fire Chief's report. Motion carried.
Following the Fire Chief's report, City Administrator Hugh briefly discussed his on going interaction
with the Mauston Ambulance Association concerning ambulance stand by calls and billing/charging
policies.
8. Police Chief's Report
Chief Zilisch provided service call statistics for March and year-to-date comparisons between 2023
and 2024. The newly hired officer is currently in training. Chief Zilisch also mentioned that Police
Week will be observed from May 18–24 to recognize the Police Department. Additionally, on May
13, the Police Department will be recognized by the Mayor and City Council. Motion made by
Purvis, seconded by Gruman to approve the Police Chief's report. Motion carried.
9. Adjourn
Motion made by McGuire, seconded by Purvis to adjourn.Motion carried at 6:15 p.m.
