CITY OF MCKEESPORT REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY 7:00 P.M. JUNE 1, 2022 The regular meeting of Council was called to order on the above- stated date at the above-stated time after the Pledge of Allegiance by Vice President Nesbit and a Moment of Silence in respect for John Joseph Elash, Rose Judge and Charles Michael who passed away just last week. Prayer was led by the Spiritual Leader for Auberle, Boniface Igba. Vice President Nesbit then asked everyone in the audience to silence their phones at this time for the duration of the meeting. The following Members of Council were present: RC-1 PRESENT: LUETHEL NESBIT, BRIAN EVANS, KEITH SOLES, JIM BARRY ABSENT: JILL LAPE, RICHARD DELLAPENNA, TIMOTHY BROWN APPROVAL OF MINUTES: President Dellapenna asked for a Motion to Approve the Minutes of the regular meeting of May 4, 2022. MOTION: Mr. Soles moved, seconded by Mr. Evans, “to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 4, 2022.” RC-2 YEAS: NESBIT, EVANS, SOLES, BARRY (4) NAYS: NONE (0) COMMUNICATIONS: Secretary James reported that we received both the Police and Fire Reports for the month of May 2022. [1] MAYOR’S REPORT: Vice President Nesbit asked for the Mayor’s Report. Mayor Cherepko said thank you. I gave my report in the Work Session. I do just want to comment that I know High School Graduation is tonight and that’s why we are missing a few Council people, I know Mr. Brown is a Principal and Ms. Lape is a teacher and Mr. Dellapenna was under the weather. So, just wanted to make sure for the record so everyone is aware of why they are not here. They take their job seriously but that’s their job-job, not the part- time Council position. CITIZENS IN THE AUDIENCE: Vice President Nesbit said that at this time we are going to have Citizens in the Audience speak. Please first of all, please keep your speaking to 2 minutes, 3 minutes I am sorry, forgive me, 3 minutes, and there is a group of people that are going to speak on a particular subject if they could choose a spokesman and speak. If you have chosen who is going to speak would you come up and speak, please. State your name and your address. Leona Knight and Renee Wilson and others spoke about the Programs at the Wellness Collective. Malisa Branch spoke about Air Pollution. Jason Togyer spoke about the Comcast Rise Program. Terry Cooper, 214 Halsey Drive, spoke about damage to his property from the storm drain not collecting rain properly. Regis Mellinger, 310 25th Street, spoke about history repeating itself. [2] Vice President Nesbit then asked for New Business from Secretary James. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION NO. 2022-027 – Bill #35 - Introduced by Keith Soles – A Resolution of the City of McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Recognizing the Steel City K-9 Emergency Response Team as a Civic and/or Service Association Under the Local Options Small Games of Chance Act, as Amended. MOTION: Mr. Evans moved, seconded by Mr. Barry “to approve Bill #35.” Vice President Nesbit asked for discussions and there was none. RC-3 YEAS: NESBIT, EVANS, SOLES, BARRY (4) NAYS: NONE (0) RESOLUTION NO. 2022-028 - Bill #36 –Introduced by Brian Evans – A Resolution of the City of McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Awarding the Bid for the McKeesport Rising Demolition Project Phase 7 to American Demolition, and Authorizing the Proper City Officials to Execute all Documents Necessary to Enter Into an Agreement with American Demolition LLC for an Amount Not to Exceed $265,800 for Phase 7. MOTION: Mr. Soles moved, seconded by Mr. Evans “to approve Bill #36.” Vice President Nesbit asked for any discussion and again there was none. RC-4 YEAS: NESBIT, EVANS, SOLES, BARRY (4) NAYS: NONE (0) [3] ADJOURNMENT: Vice President Nesbit said this meeting is adjourned.
