OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, was held in open
session on January 4, 2022, and called to order by Mayor Knaack at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
The following members were present: Chase, Sutherland, Beech, McCullough, Schwebs, Merrill, Solberg,
Schlough, Erdman, Sommerfeld. Traxler was absent.
MOTION was made by Erdman, seconded by Schwebs, and carried to approve the minutes of the December 20 th,
2021 council meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENTS – Steve Hogseth presented concerns about safety of election workers in upcoming spring
elections.
MOTION was made by Erdman, seconded by Sommerfeld, and carried to adopt the resolution petitioning the WIDOT
Secretary of Transportation for a replacement AWOS at the Menomonie Municipal Airport.
MOTION was made by Erdman, seconded by McCullough to waive the rules to allow Rebecca Kralewski to present
the Housing Authority of the City of Menomonie annual PILOT to council.
MOTION was made by Solberg, seconded by Schwebs, and carried to accept the annual PILOT from the Housing
Authority of the City of Menomonie.
MOTION was made by Solberg, seconded by Erdman, and carried unanimously to approve the request from the
Police Department to sell surplus items as presented.
MOTION was made by Schwebs, seconded by Schlough, and carried unanimously to approve the final 2022-2023
election official listing submitted by the Republican and Democratic parties.
MOTION was made by Solberg, seconded by McCullough and carried unanimously to approve the Mayor’s
recommendation that Robin Sweeny be appointed as a member of the Police/Fire Commission for a term
ending on April 30th, 2024.
BUDGET TRANSFERS – None.
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Knaack reminded council that our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 18 th, due to
Martin Luther King Day being a city holiday. Chief Atkinson and the Mayor shared with council that the city
had been awarded the COSSAP grant for Project Hope.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS – Mayor Knaack reminded everyone of the city-wide
holiday tree pick-up on January 5, 2022.
CLAIMS - MOTION was made by McCullough, seconded by Solberg, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to
approve payment of the following claims:
