MENOMONIE POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MINUTES March 3, 2022 Call to order Acting Commission President Ley called the meeting to order. Those in attendance at the Menomonie Police Department were Spielman, Sweeny and MPD Chief Atkinson. A welcome was given to Robin Sweeny the new Commission member replacing Jan Pierce. Approval of Minutes The minutes for the December 7, 2021 were moved and approved by Sweeny and seconded by Spielman. Motion carried. Public Comments There were none Old Business On a request by the commission, Chief Atkinson gave an update on the previously hired officer candidates. New Business Interviews for Police Department Candidates Chief Atkinson provided information on the historical procedures of the Police and Fire Commission. Closed Session Sweeny moved and Spielman seconded to go into closed session for the purpose of interviewing the current candidates. Motion carried. Return to open Session Motion by Sweeny and seconded by Spielman to come out of closed session. Motion was made by Ley and seconded by Sweeny to order Chief Atkinson to conduct background investigations on Noah Weimert, Marcus Kinblom, Kienna Marshall and Ben Mayerchak for the purpose of potential employment with the Menomonie Police Department. Motion to adjourn at 1:45 PM, made by Ley and seconded by Sweeny. Motion carried. The next meeting will be held as needed.
