SPECIAL MEETING – June 8, 2017 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Michigan City, Indiana, met in SPECIAL SESSION on Thursday morning, June 8, 2017 at the hour of 8:30 a.m., in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall Building, located at 100 East Michigan Boulevard, Michigan City Indiana – a regular meeting room of this Board. The meeting was called to order by President Steve Janus, who presided. Noted present: Steve Janus, and Virginia Keating (2) Absent: Rich Murphy A QUORUM WAS NOTED PRESENT. Also noted in attendance: Lt. Jeff Loniewski, M.C.P.D. Traffic Gale Neulieb, City Clerk Kim Sliwa, Deputy City Clerk REQUEST FOR STREET CLOSURE- Bill Favors, President Ziolkowski Construction, Inc. is requesting the closure of the 100 block of Ann Street, Southside of St. Stanislaus – adjacent to Washington Street to set up crane to set stone on Church from June 12th thru June 30, 2017 The following request was received in the City Clerk’s Office on June 5, 2017 by Bill Favors: Road Closure – Ann Street – one block, 100 block of Ann Street – Southside of St. Stanislaus – Adjacent to Washington Street. Crane to be set along south side of St. Stanislaus Church in road to set stone on church. Mr. Bill Favors, President and CEO of Ziolkowski Construction, Inc., addressed the Board stating the gables that they will be replacing on the south side of the Church are in danger of falling off and they will be using a crane to lift the stone away from the Church and feels it is necessary to close that section of the street to locate the 40 ton crane perpendicular to Ann Street for the work; and will be backing trucks with new stone for the project in the closed area. Discussion ensued between Mr. Favors and President Janus regarding the street being closed from Franklin Street to Washington Street; and the residents being notified. Mr. Favors advised the entire 100 block of Ann Street will be closed and that the Church has notified the affected neighbors with regards to parking. Lt. Jeff Loniewski, M.C.P.D. Traffic Division, addressed the Board regarding the affected neighbors being offered alternative parking; recommending approval. Virginia Keating made the motion to approve the request for street closure of the 100 block of Ann Street, which is the south side of St. Stan’s adjacent to Washington Street to set up a crane to set stone on the church from June 12th thru June 30, 2017. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating (2). NAYS: None (0). Motion Carries. ADJOURNMENT President Janus inquired whether there was anything else to be considered by the Board at this time and, there being none, declared the meeting ADJOURNED (approximately 8:34 Special Meeting – June 8, 2017 Page 2 am).
