SPECIAL MEETING – May , The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Michigan City, Indiana, met in SPECIAL SESSION on Friday morning, May 10, 2019, at the hour of 9:30 a.m., in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall Building, located at 100 East Michigan Boulevard, Michigan City Indiana – a regular meeting room of this Board. The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Rich Murphy, who presided. Noted present: Virginia Keating and Rich Murphy (2) Absent: Steve Janus (1) A QUORUM WAS NOTED PRESENT. Also noted in attendance: Amber Lapaich, Corporate Counsel Craig Phillips, Planning Director Gale Neulieb, City Clerk Dawn Debald, Assistant Deputy Clerk TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PARKING SPACES – Craig Phillips, Planning Director, is requesting the temporary closure of parking spaces on the west side of Franklin Street from 4th Street to the alley along with the closure to the center of the street between 4th and 5th Streets for partial demolition of 4 Franklin Street Craig Phillips, Planning Director, addressed the Board regarding his request; stating the temporary closure of eight (8) parking spaces on the west side of Franklin Street is for the stone salvage project (removal of the historic stone façade on the building) from May 12th - 17th , 2019; advising this work is being done by Tonn & Blank Construction Company; explaining the second request is for the demolition of 709 Franklin Street from May 27th – June 7th, 2019. Steve Travis, Amereco Engineering, and Joe Coar, Tonn & Blank Construction Company addressed the Board regarding this request. Virginia Keating made the motion to approve the request for temporary closure of parking spaces on the west side of Franklin Street from 7th Street to the alley along with the closure of the center of the street between 7th and 8th streets for partial demolition of 709 Franklin Street; the period being May 12-17th, 2019 for the stone salvage and May 27th – June 7th, 2019 for the demolition; the closure includes the sidewalk; and all of the barriers and signs. The motion was seconded by Vice-President Murphy and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Murphy and Keating ( ). NAYS: None ( ). Motion Carries. ADJOURNMENT Vice-President Murphy stated as there were no other items on the agenda to be considered by the Board at this time, declared the meeting ADJOURNED (approximately 9:34 a.m.).
