SPECIAL MEETING – September , The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Michigan City, Indiana, met in SPECIAL SESSION on Monday morning, September 9, 2019, at the hour of 8:30 a.m., in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall Building, located at 100 East Michigan Boulevard, Michigan City Indiana – a regular meeting room of this Board. The meeting was called to order by President Steve Janus, who presided. Noted present: Steve Janus and Virginia Keating (2) Absent: Rich Murphy (1) A QUORUM WAS NOTED PRESENT. Also noted in attendance: Abigale Thayer-Kuchta, Event Coordinator Gale Neulieb, City Clerk Dawn Debald, Assistant Deputy Clerk OPENING OF BIDS – City Wide Pavement Markings Project – SEH of Indiana President Janus asked if there was anyone present wishing to render a bid at this time; there was no response. Virginia Keating made the motion to close the acceptance of bids for the 2019 City Wide Pavement Markings Project. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating ( ). NAYS: ( ). Motion Carries. President Janus addressed the Board advising one (1) bid was received as follows: The Air Marking Company, Inc. $173,311.50 President Janus made the motion to refer the bid for the 2019 City Wide Pavement Markings Project to the appropriate City Departments for their review and recommendation at the Special Meeting on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. The motion was seconded by Virginia Keating and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating ( ). NAYS: ( ). Motion Carries. NOTICE TO PROCEED – Jay Niec, SEH of Indiana, is requesting approval for the Notice to Proceed for the Michigan City Paving Project – Rieth Riley Construction Company Jay Niec, SEH of Indiana addressed the Board stating this is the next step in the process; recommending approval. Virginia Keating made the motion to approve the Notice to Proceed for the 2019 Michigan City Paving Project by Rieth Riley Construction Company, Inc. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating ( ). NAYS: ( ). Motion Carries. Special Meeting – September 9, 2019 Page 2 APPROVAL OF CONTRACT – Abigale Thayer-Kuchta, Event Coordinator, is requesting approval of the Contract between the City of Michigan City, Indiana and Plan B. LLC dba Neon Entertainment (mobile roller-skating rink) for the Family Focused Event being held on Saturday, September =, between : a.m. – >: p.m. Abigale Thayer-Kuchta, Event Coordinator addressed the Board stating the Contract and Certificate of Insurance has been looked over and approved by Corporate Counsel, Amber Lapaich; recommending approval. Virginia Keating made the motion to approve the contract between the City of Michigan City, Indiana and Plan B. LLC. dba Neon Entertainment for the Family Focused event being held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 between 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the sum of $2,950.00. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating ( ). NAYS: ( ). Motion Carries. ADJOURNMENT President Janus stated as there were no other items on the agenda to be considered by the Board at this time, declared the meeting ADJOURNED (approximately 8:36 a.m.).
