Michigan Blvd. Michigan City, IN 46360 219-873-1570 * pdcornm@emichigancity.com Michigan City Police Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes: July 9, 2014 President Pliske called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. A quorum was noted with Commissioners John Pliske and Michael Buda in attendance, Commissioner Dennis Pickens was absent. Also present was Chief Mark Swistek, Assistant Chief Tim Richardson, attorney Pamela Krause. Commissioner Buda made a motion to accept the minutes from the June 11, 2014 meeting. Commissioner Pliske 2nd. Ayes 2 Nays 0; Motion Carries Report from Chief Swistek - Probationary Officer Nicholas Kobitka will graduate on Friday July 11th. He will then report to Captain Kintzele to begin his final phase of the of the FTO program on his permanent shift, uniform shift 2. It was asked if the Past Performance rating system was to remain the same and the answer was yes. Chief Swistek wanted to thank all the officers who were involved with the youth leadership program. It was again successful. August 14, 2014 is the Back to School Rally and that the police department was going to have a dunk tank there. Report from Assistant Police Chief- No Report Report from Attorney- No Report Comment- Officer Chris Yagelski asked if the letters for the applicant testing had been mailed out and the date. It was decided that the date was September 20, 2014 and the letters would go out that week. Commissioner Buda made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Pliske 2nd. Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
