Minutes of Meeting Tuesday, April 2, 2019 8:30 a.m. Room B-19, Municipal Building MCA Subcommittee: Public Art Committee members Present: Also attending: Charlotte McCoid, Chair Kisha Michael Franca Biales Julia Faraci Joyce Kirkpatrick 1. Call to Order – At 8:42AM Charlotte McCoid called the meeting to order in Room B19, Municipal Building, 245 deKoven Drive, Middletown, Connecticut 2. Public session – None, no Public present 3. Palmer Field Sculpture Project – Overview a. Letter of Recommendation to Middletown’s Public Works Department The Committee reviewed the draft of the recommendation, making some changes and adding several points. Joyce Kirkpatrick will incorporate these into a new draft that will be circulated to the entire Commission on the Arts for review. The Commission will vote its approval or not at the meeting on April 5. Then it will be sent to the Public Works Department Director William Russo. 4. Purchase of artwork After discussion, it was decided to continue this soon at the next meeting, since all decisions need to be made by end of May. The $2,390.79 remaining in the Public Art Budget will support both curatorial needs such as plaques, frames, repairs, attention to the Patricia Evans Display Case, additions to the catalogue and potential purchases. Julia Faraci offered to scan the artist file of background for the MCA files. 5. Hoopfest photos – review After discussion, it was determined that more information is needed for the next meeting. 6.
