COMMITTEE CONCERNING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES MEETING MINUTES City of Middletown 61 Durant Terrace June 4, 2024 6:00 PM 1. Members Present: Marty Knight/Chairperson, Joe Bibisi, Emily McVoy, Phil Cacciola, Richard Pelletier Absent: Molly Carta, Keith Vinci, Laurie McFadden Staff Present: Catherine Lechowicz – Director of Recreation and Community Services General Public: none 2. Meeting Called to Order: Called to order at 6:03pm. 3. Public Hearing: none 4. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the meeting minutes of May 7, 2024, was made by Phil Cacciola and seconded by Joe Bibisi. The motion carries. Departmental Reports:  Joe Bibisi stated that he had nothing to report.  Phil Cacciola stated that he had nothing to report.  Marty Knight congratulated Emily McVoy for being our newest member of the Committee Concerning People with Disabilities. A discussion ensued.  Emily McVoy stated that she had nothing to report.  Richard Pelletier reported that Tate’s is finally open. The elevator is all set but needs inspection. As soon as school ends the fields will be started. A discussion ensued.  Cathy Lechowicz congratulated Emily on her appointment to CCPD. She was approved last night at the council meeting. Emily will receive a letter in the mail from the Mayor and will need to set up a time to get sworn in at City Hall. There was a sidewalk report completed by a consultant through Public Works. August DeFrance passed away this past weekend. He was a longtime member of this committee. A discussion ensued. Old Business: New Business:  Phil Cacciola made a motion to not meet in July and August. Joe Bibisi seconded the motion. The motion carries.  Marty Knight will become the President of the Middletown Lion’s Club. On Saturday, June 29th at 11am there will be a special dedication of a bench at Harbor Park for Elderrean Paules. Ellie was a long time member of CCPD. The dedication will be at Lion’s Landing. A discussion ensued. Miscellaneous:  Phil wanted to address the outdoor eating areas. Cathy stated that she did follow up with Public Works.   Cathy stated that part of the reason that the second floor of Tate’s is not open is due to the fact that the deck is not complete. They are hopeful that the deck will be completed by July 4th. Adjournment: A motion of adjournment was made by Joe Bibisi and was seconded by Phil Cacciola. The motion carries.
