Shade Tree Commission

Village of Millbrook, NY Shade Tree Commission April 18, 2023 Meeting Village of Millbrook Hall 9:30 AM Present: Mike Herzog (chair), Kevin McGrane, and Eldar Shuminov (secretary). Quorum established. Mike Herzog motioned to approve the minutes from January 31st, 2023, seconded by Kevin McGrane and passed unanimously. Old business Discussed the four trees for 2023 Spring Tree Planting. Adams Fair Acre will supply and plant three out of the four trees. Dennis Gendron from Deep Roots Direct will supply and plant one tree on Arbor Day as a donation to the community. T Discussed the denied Tree Planting Grant Application from Arbor Day Foundation. Discussed the selection of preferred trees for the 2023 sidewalk project and the communication between the County and the Village. AF Shade Tree Line Funding in the 2023-24 budget is $4800. Discussed putting together an application for the Urban Forestry Inventory Grant. Mike Herzog attended the Tree City Award ceremony and received an award for the 31st year in a row. Discussed Bennett Commons Park Plans and agree that it is no longer a Shade Tree Commission business. D New Business Discussed and planned an Arbor Day event with first-grade students from Elm Drive Elementary at the Village Hall. R Discussed a request for a Village resident, Ceil Collopy, to join Shade Tree Commission. Mike Herzog motioned for Ceil Collopy to join the Shade Tree Commission, seconded by Kevin McGrane, and the motion passed unanimously. Discussed and planned for a plaque in dedication to Ed Olson, Boy Scout Troop 31 Scoutmaster. Reviewed Shade Tree Commission terms of current officers. Discussed future tree plantings and locations. Mike and Kevin planned a visit to pick out trees for the Spring Tree Planting from Adams Fairacre Farms. Set the next meeting for July 10th, 2023. 9:30 AM Respectfully prepared by Eldar Shuminov
