Shade Tree Commission Meeting January 31, 2023, Village Hall 11:30-12:30 Present: Mike Herzog (chair), Kevin McGrane, and Eldar Shuminov (secretary). Quorum established. Approval of minutes from 9/23/22. Mike Herzog motioned to approve minutes from 9/23/22. Kevin McGrane seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Discussed planting four trees in Spring 2023. Mike Herzog motioned to plant four trees and a dedication plaque for one of the trees. Kevin McGrane seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Discussed tree planting grant application. Discussed preferred trees for Franklin Ave. associated with sidewalk replacement. Recommendation to plant ginkgo tree. Discussed funding for the 2023 budget. Mike motioned a request for a minimum $5000. Seconded by Kevin McGrane. The motion passed unanimously. Discussed Urban Forestry grant opportunity for tree survey in 2023. Discussed Pending Tree City application for 2023 Discussed Park plans by 501c for Bennett Commons in 2023 Discussed Arbor Day plans for Village. Mike Herzog motioned to plant one of the four trees and a dedicated plaque at the village hall on Arbor Day April 28 2023 with Millbrook School. Seconded by Kevin McGrane.
