CITY OF MINERAL POINT 137 HIGH STREET, SUITE 1 MINERAL POINT, WI 53565 608-987-2361 MINUTES CITY OF MINERAL POINT FIRE COMMITTEE MEETING Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 8:00 PM City Hall Community Room 1. Motion carried, all voting aye (6-0). DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION OF DRAFT 2026 FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MINERAL POINT AND THE MINERAL POINT FIRE DEPARTMENT, INC. Administrator Honer stated that he sent out a draft of the 2026 contract between the Mineral Point Fire Department and the City of Mineral Point. The changes in the proposed draft include the date and the outlay amount that the City provides to the Fire Department. Bryan Marr asked for clarification on removing the outlay amount. Mayor Clark asked what the reasoning was for putting the outlay into the contract. Marr stated that it was due to the Fire Department getting the rug pulled out from underneath them by the City of Mineral Point many times previously. The committee discussed the possibility of creating a Fire District. The committee discussed keeping the verbiage as is in section 3.3 of the contract, but the City needs to budget for the maintenance. The city can add a budget line for truck maintenance and put $4,000 in it. Bryan Marr stated that at the last Fire Department meeting, he motioned to forego the $40,000 outlay for 2026, with the understanding that between the City, this committee, and the Fire Department, a new contract will be written and agreed upon by both sides by July 1, 2026. If an agreement isn’t made by July 1, 2026, the City would be on the hook for the $40,000 outlay for 2027. Goodney states that this should be two contracts. A separate contract stating that the city will replace the truck per the NFPA schedule.
